OT boy: Actually there should be a an option to switch the recording off. But I am sorry to say that indeed you have to erase the words one by one... also... an update to the 188 version should help, it will make the unit more stable and will take care of some other, minor maybe unnoticed issues too! Let us know how it went ok? ;)

To all: Please be informed that the real "Knight Rider" posts here can be traced if it is really his post (because other poster is using his name)by just reading the data located in the left side of his name below his post. The data should (and used to be) MajN. Somebody (who hate this brand or this model)might be using his name again in the future just to destroy this phone's image. Older version of this phone have problems but version 188 does not.

I see, I already had a hint that the dictionary was the problem. Thanks KnightRider... But my phone always hangs when I try to access the dictionary. So that's what causes the out of memory status. Btw, all possibly saved messages have already been erased before. I think I already asked this before, but can't the "automatic saving of words"-function for the dictionary be turned off? Since it doesn't have a "delete all words" function it would be tideous to delete all one by one. Well, looks like I have no other option than to return to the service center. I think the last time i got there they installed firmware version 177 here in the Philippines. I hope the next one won't cause me any headaches.. hehe :)

i'm using Mob Time Cell Phone Manager 2006 V6.1.0. good for archiving sms in the pc. sync with outlook doesn't seem to be working though..

The two initial beeps are normal and can not be changed...
About the messages, try to erase the messages you have in your phone... even the archived messages... also try to erase the words in your dictionary... and also what is your peoples firmware version?

i have problem sending and receiving sms everytime i try the phone will say "unable to send memory full the outgoing and incoming calls are okey what should i do?? help me please.

Knight Rider! Help!
I can't send or receive SMS messages.. when i'm trying to send a message the phone says: "out of memory. unable to send", although I have erased every single message from any folder even that for MMS messages..I have double checked every folder from the inbox to the archived message and that for MMS messages... my phone memory has 97% free space.. and my memory card has 12% free space.. what memory might I possibly be out of?
The call function, however, seems to be alright... help please! :)

It's been a long time since my last post
(maybe April 2006). I am one of the earliest user of this phone back in mid February 2006 when I bought 2 of this phone (for me and my wife). What happened? Mine one lost on the way back from a successful repair( keypad problem) due to courier fault about 4 month ago.
The 2nd one just gone last month -when I start the phone the display turn on as usual but then the button does not respond at all. Unlikely a hardware problem because when I removed the sim card it can be used as usual in it's flight mode. Mind you that I have been using the phone with it's original dinosaur age firmware 164 until it's last day( that mean it only support up to 512mb miniSd with occasional software bug problem)
I hope with just one month to go with the warranty it can be fixed with new firmware- hopefully.If it is successfully fixed, i hope can use it for another year or two. For now I am using my 2+1/2 yrs old OT735 , almost a flawless one after a battery change one year ago.And my wife use her 735 too.
To Mr TTThunder or any other 735 user that thinking about upgrading to 853 - there are few thing that 853 lack of; 1st of all voice dial + voice command- even my old 501 has voice dial,not so important but almost all other modern rival phone has this feature. 2nd- the use of D-pad in 853 is a relative disadvantage for people already used/ familiar to touch sensitive joystick in 735 and the silver paint from the 853 D-pad peeled of completely in just 1 week hahaha (laughing at myself :). 3rd the feature that I missed the most- the use of # key to change lower/high case & number, in 853 we have to use * key to change that and it have been complicated with additional t9 key (hate that because i never use t9 for typing)and for typing numbers have to long pressed corresponding button just like SE phone -others may find this useful for them, just personal opinion of course.
The problem that we all will not likely missed from 735- the electric stinging/shock to your ear while talking when the phone is on charging -hehe.

Rather, there are 2 initial beep tones prior the actual message tone! :) And I guess it's not possible that the phone vibrates and plays the message tone at the same time when receiving messages?

Just an observation:
When receiving a text message on this phone there is always an initial beep tone before the actual message tone is played. Is this normal for this phone? Can this be removed so that the message tone is only played?

If I'm not wrong the PC Suite of Nokia allows it... so... maybe putting a SIM Card on a Nokia Phone and back it up with its software would be helpful... who knows...

The S853 does everything what the old 735 can do and more. The latest version is relatively stable and works well, stability and speed of your memory card is also dependable on the actual speed the memory card has... as there are regular and high speed SD cards... and yes it does support 1 GB cards... Prices range from 190 Euro's to 279 Euro's both simlock free!
As far as I know wma is not supported... can not say 100% for sure though, as I did not bother to try.

My OT735 smalltalk is about to die, so maybe I will get a new handset...
Could someone advise me on S853?
1. Are there anything that OT735 can do that S853 cannot?
2. With the latest firmware (188), does S853 support 1GB miniSD card?
3. With the latest firmware (188), are there problems when we loaded a lot of songs in the card?
4. How much does it cost now?
5. Does the player suppot WMA or AAC?

The upper speaker is not more powerful! It only seems that way because there are 3 speakers in the phone... two on either ends and a third one that is also used during calls... That one also produces the bass sound and while playing mp3's it functions as a "subwoofer", because it is also used as the conversation speaker it has a bigger hole so you can hear it while talking to some one and a bigger hole means more noise comes out... so that's why you think it is louder while it is not.
About the videos... did you save them on your memory card? Or on the phone itself? As the phone should be playing long videos too... as it records more then 10 minutes in 3gp and can not play more then 5 minutes? That does not sound right! So did you save the videos on the memory card or not... also check how the videos are encoded... try to lower the bitrate if the phone is having trouble playing them back.

Knight rider: Do you know that S853 can't play 3gp or mp4 more than 5 minutes? Mine phone can't. After five minutes of playing the pictures just freezes, only the sounds continues:) its just another bug or something. ANother thing S853 can't recieve data from IRDA more 3.5 MB ;) hahah funny. ANother thing S853 processor is not so good as k750, because on the k750 3gp or mp4 clips on 176x144 on 192 kbit are played very smooth, while S853 is just break in some moments. pfuuuuu alot of bad thigs about S853, Knight Rider :( my phone version is 18v(the latest i think) and i am from bulgaria.

Knight rider : do you notice that the upper speaker is more powerful and have bass? the bottom speaker is not so loud and have not bass? somebody noticed that? or is just only in my phone or is its defect.

After all of those tips and tricks I gave to you guys I know ask one of you... Does anyone of you people know a piece of software that enables to archive sms messages from your phone to your computer (and ofcourse it has to work with the S853!) Thanks friends!
