I think you'd better pray that your city had a repair center. Somehow it appears I have a repair center in my city instead of the capital, so I will be able to just drive by and ask them for some help.
To Knight Rider:
Don't you have a bug with the standby screen?
Do you see a clock and battery level etc.?
Don't you notice your phone is kind'a slow?
Don't you have to reload it from time to time? It's even written in the user guide that you should reload the phone for optimum performance.
Tell us, how many pictures have you put in there, how many of them are assigned, haven't you had any bugs yet?

The standby screen problem is known, I have the same. It's a bug, get used to that.
Regarding the SMS, I just thought and it seems that I haven't yet replied to an SMS. I only wrote some.
It looks as if you are having my kind of problems, so perhaps when you will be unable to turn this phone on and somehow find a way to do that, please inform me. Mine is dead and does not want to wake up.
To Knight Rider:
I am hanging on Skype, so if you have some time, come by and share your experience. Fi your phone is bugless, I will have to look for an updated firmware then. Only how to do that :)

Well people to be honest, everything works great on my phone... no blank screen no problems with pc software its all great. So far so good! Really nice phone, good value for money.

The software package works fine.
the mobilephonetools are software to send and receive sms from PC by using mobile phones. I used to use this program to send sms using keyboard from my pc.
right now i used microsoft sms sender v1.0, but this program only able to send, cant receive sms from my phone.
Any one know what pc program to send and receive sms that compatible with s853

I have a few problem with s853:
1. in power saving mode(when the display become dark if u dont use the phone), the screen totally blank, the clock doesn't show up. Anyone manage to show the clock during power saving?
2. replying sms often fail, but if u remove the sms to draft and send it again, it works. Anyone find this problem and manage to solve it?

The 853 has its own software. It's included in the package. Should work. At least some people are satisfied with it.

mobilePhoneTools software from my ot715 software disk works with my last 715,735,757, but doesn't work with my s853. Does anyone success in using mobilephonetools with S853

I seem to have lost my faith in regaining the 853 of mine.
The same white screen problem.
Users, please inform whether you've faced this issue or not. Maybe I am the only one to receive such a buggy phone.

Actually, Alcatel phones, especially OT S853, cannot compare with some same-price ones of other famous brands. OT S853 works sometimes slowly, botheringly and it even has other bad problems. However, I am an Alcatel fan (used: OT 525, OT 535, OT 735, OT 756 and now OT S853). I even have had some troubles with my phone but I think we can never hate what we love.

I seem to once again be having that white screen issue, when it did not turn on. Now I just can't turn it on. White screen swims out, then it goes dark and nothing.
Perhaps tomorrow it starts, as I'd like to have some music during my journey to the capital.

I ain't coming onto SKype these days, as I've got a large project to finish until Monday. I would not like to have a hurry-up conversations since it's a leisure, so perhaps I'll just drop you an email after I send my translation. Then we talk.
So far my Alcatel has settled, 200 pictures, 500 contacts, full miniSD and works fine. WAP browsing is faster and more convenient, yet java applications sometimes keep on crashing. Anyway, I check my email via WAP, so that's not a bother to me.

i've been so patient since few months ago and i always try to call 0216124186 but my call's always answered by machine. i don't know what they're doing daily in jakarta tcl office. every day, every hour, every minute, every second no one answer my phone calls. is it an office or just an empty house?
alcatel will never be popular in jakarta if the service is always like this. hey tcl, are you seurious to handle alcatel?

Since i'm still waiting for my phone to arrive, i havn't bought any memory cards yet.
I going to buy 1GB miniSD for sure, the question is.. maybe this phone supports 2GB as well?
Sandisk 1GB works on S853 as you guys said - tested for sure, so maybe Sandisk 2GB cards will work too..
If it does work, then probably i'll be the happiest man on earth.

Yes thats a nice site... but I would like to know as well where i could find "official" games like the rainbow 6 series for download? That would be so great playing that on a phone :D !

The best site for downloading Java applications is GetJar.com, I think. I managed to find tons of applications here when I was a 757 user, now I guess there are even more of them.

Yes you can download and install new java games on this phone even by using your pc and the SD card. But not all games might work so be carefull when buying games.
There is only one game included with the phone, its called "twin spin".
