If you inform yourself good enough, Both from Apple Website and GSMARENA. You should know the wifi version do not have GPS.

And if you bother to search the App store, read reviews, apps, you should know there are apps that support DLNA.

And IMO, the sd slot card does not support iOS sandbox app architecture.

And i do not know your anger towards Mavericks and iTunes..

Solution very easy: Just sell your iPad, iDevice, Bootcamp Windoze for all your Macs.. and buy WP phones or Android.. and welcome yourself to another set of problems.

I bought an iPad Air for my wife as a Christmas gift. Having owned numerous Apple products over the years - including an iPhone and first gen iPad which had every option available - the choice seemed good at the time.

But it wasn't. Further, it really didn't take more than a month to feel the sting of a bad purchase.

              Why?

Well, the choice when buying one of these 'premium' pads basically comes down to how much you can live with paying vs. what your perception of what you'll get.

Here's what we discovered with a 32 gb wifi version that cost roughly €600.

First - and I must say incredibly - it doesn't have gps :(((. Even the cheapest, bare bones Android offerings have that. To be honest our first gen iPad had it and it never occurred to us that Apple would rip people off this way. ((Think about it. You're paying for a premium product that you can use the map function for once you step out the door. That's just thievery ... it sure as h.ll isn't 'high end'.))

Second - and this again is a major disappointment - it doesn't support DLNA. Sure, I hear people thinking aloud about the unfairness off this comment as surely you can use additional Apple gear ... Air play, Time capsule, etc, but really, should you have to cough up more after plunking down hundreds to get on board? DLNA equipped devices - many Android offerings, both cheap and expensive - merely require a wifi connected secondary device. Since you already need one to 'connect' to the net the cost has been born and you needn't spend another cent.

Next is the absolutely horrible iOS 7. Like I wrote (much) earlier I am a lifelong Apple user. I think I have had at least one of just about anything they've ever produced - including my MBP 15 and G5 desktop as well as an older G4 that has travelled around the world with me a few times .... these are really good products - but I've got to say that iOS 7 is a disaster. Apple has also shot itself in the foot with Mavericks, but I've still got faith. They did after all fire a few lead people on these projects ... one should keep hope, but again the whole interface of iOS 7 is clunky, sloppy, 'non' intuitive and frankly anti Apple.

Then you've got the age old problem of iTunes. Who could really love this sloppy octopus?

Add to that I already knew that there wasn't an external memory slot (honestly Apple, where is the difficulty in that?).

No, on the whole (and I could say more) this iPad Air quickly became a regret. There's far more to these things than technical specs and biased comparisons of RAM types, speeds and processor capabilities. Sometimes it comes down to what your device actually has on offer and what you've paid for it.

In that reguard and considering the real lack of innovation - something I've always thought highly of in the Apple techno sphere - an iPad (including the mini) is money poorly spent :(((. If the consideration stopped merely at fluidity of the user experience, or the stability of the device then yes, up to a point Apple still delivers a reasonable product.

              But better?

              Sadly, no.

Cape Town, 09 Jul 2014IPad Air is the best it has won many awards as the best iPa... moreRAM is where the instructions for the CPU are stored temporary.
Because retrieve instruction from storage is slow like snail.

DDR3 is a means or method of storing it on the RAM u find it on PCs/Macs.. Phones use LPDDR3 instead.. slower but more energy efficient.

A7 chips contains 1GB LPDDR3 64bit long with L1 ~ L3 cache. Cache is very important compared to RAM.. as its very very fast compared to RAM.. S800 only have 32bit 2~3GB LDDR3 RAM.

                  In a A7 chip CPU.

CPU -> check L1 cache (64KB) -> check L2 cache (1MB) -> check L3 cache (4MB) before checking the RAM. (L1 fastest.. L2 slower.. L3 slowest.. RAM even slower.. Storage is snail speed)

To compare.. S800 chip. It has 32KB L1 cache, and 2MB L2 cache.. Much much less then A7 chip. But it make it up by processing faster and having more cores.. at 2.3Ghz cycle.. compared to much slower A7 chip at 1.3Ghz. Having more cores however is subjective.. if the process is capable in supporting parallel processing.

A speed of a CPU is determined how fast it can process the information..
Apple resolve this by having large cache, so to avoid using the slower RAM / Storage.
Qualcomm resolve this by having more cores, faster clock speed, and bigger RAM.

In terms of energy consumption.. A7 performs very well.. thus the battery life of iPad is good.

Guys even if iphone 5s is not a literal upgrade based on the specifications (dual core, same resolution, etc) the upgrade to Apple A7 chipset is a beast! It may still be dual core but based on different benchmark tests it even surpassed LG G2 and Xperia flagships that are quad core. It may only have 1gb ram but the better memory management of the A7 chipset makes it comparable to those android flagships. Im not a fan of apple but I guess we should not only rely on paper specifications of the phone but the user experience. Thats all thanks.
