A lot has been said about how good or bad this phone will be even though very few people have had it in their hands. Phone specs are just that; specs. It only matters if if you actually need that feature.

However, I think frm Apple's recent marketing it is clear they are are the early adopter "consumer" market. They are not after the hard-core smartphone users that need PDA/Phone/Applications etc.

In the end, if the call quality, reception, SMS, etc., features are not very good this could be a bomb for Apple. Because who needs an iPod with crappy phone features.

June release. It will be interesting to hear the feedback from the early adopters who but it.

the real question is - Is this really a smartphone??? - I don't think that the operative system is open, you wont be able to install software and adapt it to your use! So, if you can't install your stuff, it is not a smartphone!!! Is just a bulky ipod with some add ons!

Hay...what a cool combination of a phone, pod, pocket pc...i cant understand why this phone should have a keypad...when this is high tech design and it deserves a hi-tech look as well functionality.
anyhow this is a complete cell phone available in market

Also Apple doesn't have any room for improvements like the ipod, i mean the ipod is on its what like 7th generation now? in like 4 years?? so with it being the most expensive phone and having to sign a contract and not being universal like an ipod, apple can't expect to roll out with an iphone 2nd gen 6 months after this release expecting anywhere close to the same amount of sales, people can't just trade and sell these off like ipods, so again i really don't think this is going to be anywhere near successful as everyones predicting

Nicksti followed up on all the points i left out, first off ziyin, its not the most advanced phone on the earth, not even close, it may have flashy new sensors and bells, but as far as features go, nothing about it is that revolutionary, everything it has, has been done before, and again with the sms, it will not be as fast as typing with keys, it will definately slow teens/young adults down which will just not go over well, plus there is the whole issue of it being apple's first phone ever, companies like nokia and motorola can roll out with phones very often because they've had years of extensive testing, since apple probably did a lot of consumer based surveys and testing, i can place a pretty big bet on something being wrong on release that they didn't foresee and having to possibly recall, which if that happens will completely kill the iphone's future, if they get it right who knows, but I really doubt this is going to be anything close to what they say it will be, and yet again Microsoft is following suit with their own phone, which they will be able to see where iphone goes wrong and build off of it to make theres even better, so if anything look to Microsoft to come out with everything wrong ion the iphone fixed, plus i hear its going to have interchangeable parts, like you can upgrade the camera and buy add-ons for hardware and such, crazy....

I cannot help but agree with Peter. It is the phone that everyone wants but I doubt it is the phone that everyone can use or afford. My main concerns are:

                                  1. Battery Life - Sensors, big screen, WLAN and an OS that is new to mobile phones.
                                  2. Price - 16 year old with a $500 phone + a plan? The phone is not really priced for everyone because with the feature set it really is not for everyone.
                                  3. Smartphones are not for the average consumer.

seriously i think u guys r wrong tho .... iphone is made to be touch screen why does it need a keypad ????? the purpose mac design the phone without a stylus is because they wan u to use it as if its just a normal phone .. thats their motif ... and this is world first smart phone without a stylus and also the most advance phone on earth ... they have the program that u wan ... such as google maps ??? ... and also they have very advance function such as multi-touch input method , accelerometer sensor for auto rotate ... and i bet their system are very stable ... well u guys say for those age between 16 to 24 the are more to sms .. yup that i agree with u i am also a hardcore sms person ...if they use this phone i cant find any reason y this phone is not suitable for them ??? its still a phone without keypad .. BUT u r still using it as if there is a keypad there so i dont find anything bad abt this phone for the state this phone is one of the most expensive phone .. but for the asians this is one of the most affordable smart phone HAHHAHHA ... which is 3k its much cheaper than the other pda phones .. well i think thats all i can comment =P if there is anything wrong just email me ait ...

It's not a good phone may be desibn and syle are best but non avaliality of a key pad is the bigest disadvantage.

Honestly I think this is going to fail, not only is it one of the most expensive phones to ever be released in the states, its primary market is young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 all of which text message almost every minute of every day which no touch screen I have ever seen would be able to keep up with speeds like that, and having a touch screen with absolutely no pen is retarded, the oils will eventually get to it, it will always be smudged, and honestly apple has never done phone software or anything before, my prediction is a million people will buy it and then a million people will regret it
