kim, 14 Oct 2020which is better: 12 or 12 mini? They're the same except for the screen size, battery size and price. For one-handed use, lower price and just generally easier to put and remove from your pockets while sitting down, get the mini.

If you don't care about screen size though or intentionally want a bigger screen however, get the iPhone 12 non-mini. Battery life between the two will likely be similar (maybe half an hour difference or so, not meaningful in daily use. Wait for reviews and benchmarks though, that number is just a guess)

I would like to get rid of the notch though. And I liked the old style iphone 4 the most.

                It is not really 5.4"
Apple says on site: The iPhone 12 mini display has rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 5.42 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less).

So in terms of comparable pricing the 12 Mini is actually replacing the iPhone 11?

Ok you are getting a smaller display, but a display with a significantly higher deffinition and it's OLED as well.

                  The newer A14 5nm SoC and 5G.

Based on its starting price of £699 @64GB in the UK at least, that places it actually £30 less expensive than the iPhone 11 64GB at launch, however the 11 is now only £599 in the UK and it's still isn't a bad phone if Apple is your thing.

Yes the 12 Mini and others only gets the USB-C to Lightning Cable in the box, but I'm guessing that if you can afford a £699 phone you likely shouldn't be shocked at buying a £19 Charging Brick.

The 12 Pro & Pro Max make this in terms of pricing compared against the 11 Pro & Pro Max even more likely that buying a charging brick shouldn't concern most if you need to buy one.

The 12 Pro & Pro Max in the UK now start at £999 and £1099 compared to the 11 Pro & Pro Max which at launch were £1049 and £1149, respectively.

Again they've actually took the unit price of the charging brick & wired headphones off the retail price your paying at a retailer, yet throwing in a brand new A14 5nm SoC and 5G....

5G is apparently what's added considerably to android phones over the years

Yes, yes I know, theres no 90 or 120Hz refresh rates or nonsensical 8K video recording, personally I do believe "all" phone manufacturers are now placing there trump card on 5G despite the coverage across most of the globe being no where near what 4G is currently at.

They can't do anything right, can they? First no compact, now too small, should've been same size as iPhone SE 2020, that's compact enough but with larger screen

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2020Same design for 5 years. And iphone fan boys are exciting. ... moreThere is no need change a working trend, no point of fixing something as long as it isn't broken. But this phone can be ridiculed for other reasons, like no charger, or keeping the same 64 gb as base variant and all that. No point of being jealous.

Investigator, 13 Oct 2020Other phones being large does not make this "mini"... moreAre you seriously arguing over relative and subjective terminology?
And yes, if all other models of a lineup are 7+ inches, a 6.5 in phone would be the "mini" model, that's why Apple decided to call it mini this time. The Sony Xperia XZ2 compact was larger, btw.
