Apart from cool design what does this thing contain? I buy a product when it suits me, fulfills my requirement and great performance. But apple.... Steve jobs need to think again.

I would love to get this phone! I have one quib, why is the front panel of the white version black?

I have a great looking JBL dock for my 5th Gen iPod, which is also in white. It is such a strange decision in my eyes to not follow a cohesive design theme, the white front panel would enhance the black tones of the screen and make videos look great.

all reports tell of iPhone 3G greatly improved cellular reception and longer WiFi range due to the new back plate, so your tales that metal backing has no effect are lies. that's why very few phones are metal and even the famed RAZR was forced to have a plastic back.

the important thing is that the build quality hasn't suffered. iPhone 3G is still one tight, solid slab and the plastic is of fine material. it doesn't feel cheap in your hands like some others, it feels like you're holding an Apple iMac in your palm.

The Display will look great if your used to older models but most upcoming high end devices-HTC touch pro,Xperia x1 etc have a far more detailed screen.Xperia x1 has a WVGA screen(320000pixels) whereas the iphones screen only sports 153600 pixels.

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention.
The new iPhone 3G is made of an all plastic backing simply because a metal backing interferes with radio waves.

because the new iphone has the 3G network, they wanted as less interfence as they could get. Best choice? Plastic backing. But dont let that discourage you, it is fully scratch proof, and feels VERY solid and sleek to the touch. :)

                                    peace

Okay, so both of my iPhone 3G's came Monday morning and here is what I have to say. I've used roughly 5/6 phones over the past 3 years which range from Motorola's, Nokias, SE, LG, and most recently, the HTC Dash.

After using the iPhone 3G for over 72 hours now, I can say that it IS indeed a great phone. First off, the phone comes in this slick little box thats a blessing to hold in your hands. Once opened, it comes with the phone itself, manuals, a Sim Removal Tool, stickers, cleaning cloth, headphones, usb cable, power adapter. NO DOCK is included.

As this today is the 4th day from the official launch on Friday, registering and activating the phone was a breeze and took no more than 10 minutes as I had already installed iTunes ready to go.

This is my FIRST iPhone/iPod, so there may be a bias involved in my review or thoughts. But hey, at the end of the day its up to you to decide. But the purpose of my posting is to tell you guys what stood out to me forefront.

Calls: On the ROGERS network in Canada, I made numerous calls using the phone itself, and then with the supplied headset. No one complained about anything, and the headphones seemed very good as some calls were made while I was whispering, and no one complained (whispering?...dont ask why)

Battery: Battery life seems to be really good as well. I am not currently using the 3G network to load any data, but I AM using my university and home’s Wi-Fi connection. After a whole day of use, I still have enough battery left to listen to music, and look at pics at the same time while on my way home, and converse for the evening til the very early morning. ( I go to sleep at about 4 AM every night, so it still lasts til then )

Screen: As for the screen, it is a REALLY great screen/display. The colors are strong, vivid, and very clean. It is also VERY easy to see while I’m outside too. And I found that it was a really good aspect of the phone because most phones just ‘black out’ in the sunlight. I keep my display at 50% brightness and its enough for me at all times.

GPS/STOCKS/WEATHER APPS: For these programs, I must say, are very helpful and intuitive…especially the GPS (Google Maps). I can get directions, drop pins, and find addresses of my contacts! VERY intuitive.

Those are just SOME of the features and key things that I will go through, but just to let everyone know: this is a really GREAT phone…if you have the money, and want a nice solid phone, that is really reliable, looks great, feels great, and is a superb phone overall, get the iPhone 3G. To the people who are non-stop talkers about how bad it is, and about the SMS crap, 2MP camera, no video…tell them to shutup, because once you have this phone, those are the last things you will be worried about. Trust me.

                                      Peace out.

dont talk about american ppl, the would buy anything funcky...from american cars to laptops to phone...but they are inefficient ...if u talk about music then nokia's music x'presses do a better job ..besides being better phone...iphones maybe "jack of all"... no one will ever match nokia...it like CAMERY or ACCORD !!!
