Okay, so both of my iPhone 3G's came Monday morning and here is what I have to say. I've used roughly 5/6 phones over the past 3 years which range from Motorola's, Nokias, SE, LG, and most recently, the HTC Dash.

After using the iPhone 3G for over 72 hours now, I can say that it IS indeed a great phone. First off, the phone comes in this slick little box thats a blessing to hold in your hands. Once opened, it comes with the phone itself, manuals, a Sim Removal Tool, stickers, cleaning cloth, headphones, usb cable, power adapter. NO DOCK is included.

As this today is the 4th day from the official launch on Friday, registering and activating the phone was a breeze and took no more than 10 minutes as I had already installed iTunes ready to go.

This is my FIRST iPhone/iPod, so there may be a bias involved in my review or thoughts. But hey, at the end of the day its up to you to decide. But the purpose of my posting is to tell you guys what stood out to me forefront.

Calls: On the ROGERS network in Canada, I made numerous calls using the phone itself, and then with the supplied headset. No one complained about anything, and the headphones seemed very good as some calls were made while I was whispering, and no one complained (whispering?...dont ask why)

Battery: Battery life seems to be really good as well. I am not currently using the 3G network to load any data, but I AM using my university and home’s Wi-Fi connection. After a whole day of use, I still have enough battery left to listen to music, and look at pics at the same time while on my way home, and converse for the evening til the very early morning. ( I go to sleep at about 4 AM every night, so it still lasts til then )

Screen: As for the screen, it is a REALLY great screen/display. The colors are strong, vivid, and very clean. It is also VERY easy to see while I’m outside too. And I found that it was a really good aspect of the phone because most phones just ‘black out’ in the sunlight. I keep my display at 50% brightness and its enough for me at all times.

GPS/STOCKS/WEATHER APPS: For these programs, I must say, are very helpful and intuitive…especially the GPS (Google Maps). I can get directions, drop pins, and find addresses of my contacts! VERY intuitive.

Those are just SOME of the features and key things that I will go through, but just to let everyone know: this is a really GREAT phone…if you have the money, and want a nice solid phone, that is really reliable, looks great, feels great, and is a superb phone overall, get the iPhone 3G. To the people who are non-stop talkers about how bad it is, and about the SMS crap, 2MP camera, no video…tell them to shutup, because once you have this phone, those are the last things you will be worried about. Trust me.

Peace out.

If your ring tone is low or u want to make your own for free AND YOU OWN A MAC....
        download makeiphoneringtone

then get the ringtone u want, must be a small file your average ringtone length. 10 or 20 sec

        open the ringtone in itunes

        convert to aac

then drag converted file to makeiphoneringtone.....and it will automatically be put in the ringtones folder in itunes

        then sync.

ps if the tone is low click the file in itunes, then go to "get info" and turn volume up.

I think there is also a pc version out there

        Have a good day

          Apple iPhone 3G review :

          - Most glaring nickel & dime omission : a dock
          - Most unsettling error message : no SIMCard installed
          - Most under & over estimated spec : battery life
          - Top feature that shows how useless technology can be : GPS
          - Biggest design flaw : edge of the plastic back
          - Maximum number of waking minutes spent without playing phonesaber since I installed it : 47
          - Most underreported aspect of the iPhone 3G's performance : it's finnicky
          - Most unwelcome comeback : EDGE
          - Quickest firmware flip-flop : Apple making the screen less yellow
          - Most perplexing thing about the iPhone 3G launch : AT&T doesn't offer apps for it.

N96 will kill Iphone, remember that Apple only has 1 product and has a very interesting marketing campaign, this is the reason why a lot of people were making lines for buy this device (not for the device features, only for the advertisement) but let see how long will be Apple in the battle against the leader NOKIA!!!

This phone is not for stupid people. If you are an experienced computer person or you are in business field its high demand technologie. To have iphone you have to know how touse it.If someone is not related to any of these fieldsbuy regular nokia or sonyericsson.Iphone is really good and high quality computer technology that beat all cellphone sales.Design is also awsome.Only one thin that iphone hasproblem not remomovable battery. But it has warranty. So enjoy it.Sometimes it will make a problem, but nothing is ideal even human being.

American's need to pressure networks to up the ante and place them on a level playing field with europe.I can't believe you guys are happy with YESTERDAYS technology! Here in europe we regualary get download speeds in excess of 1.5mbit,you in the usa are crawling along using GPRS lol lol. Most europeans are using devices with at least a 3.2mp cam with carl ziess optics we are also used to our phones using OPERA browsers, torrent clients,mp3 editors etc etc Iphone is like a lame two year old model to most of us!fortunately for apple there is a some europeans who desire a low spec FASHION phone.

                            hi all
went into my local o2 store today to buy the 3g iphone.
ive had reservations about the phone due to all the applications etc its missing. however i sat down to get one and the nice gentleman brought the box to the table.so when i asked the sales person to demonstrate the ring volume on his personal iphone i nearly wet my pants with laughter.
"yes he replied it is a bit quiet "
so he went through all the tones available on the phone and i could hardly make them out. "it is a bit noisy in here tho" he said.
yes but isnt that the point, trying it in everyday enviroments. i mean do i have to be in a small room on my own to hear it.

sorry apple but for all its glorious features the phone is so let down by some basic stuff.LIKE BEING ABLE TO HEAR THE DAMN THING.
"I DONT BELIEVE IT" WHAT A WASTE OF TIME

ROLL ON THE NOKIA N96 OR SE C905

Purchased my iPhone 3G on launch day and despite 02 taking a good 5 days to activate my sim, I must say this is by far the best phone I have ever had the pleasure to own. Believe me when I say once you have used one of these bad boys you will never look at another phone again, and that's coming from a previously VERY loyal Sony Ericsson cellphone owner.

If SUPERIOR phones like the n81,n82,n95,n96,e90 etc with advanced operating systems are to complicated for you then your probably better buying iphone
