Tell us please, from a marketing perspective, why this was not a brilliant chess move on Apples part?

I am so angry that they didn't put a damn xenon or any kind of flash on the new phone. Plus the new cheap price is a real slap in the face. The iPhone was good for its presteige, and expensive luxurious price. This new price will turn the iPhone into the old razor where everyone has one and begins to hate them much.
also, the camera should have been made at least a 3.2mega pixel and added a damn copy n paste

Lack of A2DP Stereo Bluetooth is annoying, but for the price I guess not everything could be included. As long as it is a reliable handset I will be very happy.

Joey, 23 Jun 20083G and Exchange Activesync have sealed the deal for me, i'v... moreYour reason for choosing the iPhone is like a breath of fresh air. That's right: all the extra features of those other "copy phones" are actually based upon Windows Mobile. In the end it will be a headache and a phone most providers will not support. They'll say, "call Sony, call Nokia, call Samsung, etc." Then those same people will be on the other forums in GSM Arena crying because they are having problems or cannot figure something out.
I chose the iPhone because I expected it to be a "Works good and lasts a long time" experience. It was exactly that.

3G and Exchange Activesync have sealed the deal for me, i've been a long time user of Windows Mobile and i'm just plain sick of how unstable it is. sure this phone is missing quite a few features, but if it works (reliably) then i'll be happy.

Try this—you complainers of the iPhone: Walk into T-Mobile, AT&T, or other service provider; demand the, N95, HTC Touch Pro, SE XPERIA (or new touch screen mobile from Samsung) with 3G service for less than the iPhone. Yeh, that's what I thought.

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2008Its only for USD$199 accros the 22 countries from 11july.... Please explain the disconnect with the logic: How can price be so important on one hand, then the same people turn around and tout a Nokia, Samsung, or Sony Ericsson—which will cost 700 - 1,000 unlocked. In the end the 3G service or monthly fees for these other phones will be the same. Are you people so naive to imagine because you have another phone—other than the iPhone—the monthly fees will be less? Please!
Also, many of the features bragged about in these other phones are actually seldom used. In the end the iPhone does what it does very well.
Did you know that the customer satisfaction index on the iPhone is higher than most phones—and higher than the N95 or any HTC ever produced? In the end it is customer satisfaction which is key and drives what Apple will put in the iPhone. Sure, Apple could put in all the features of a Nokia, Samsug, or Sony. But, then everybody would complain about the "price point" (cost). You simply cannot have it both ways.

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2008This phone sure is a great internet device, an awesome mp3 ... moreYeh, look at the HTC Touch Pro: it is actually larger when the keyboard is out. Did you not notice that part? it has a smaller screen. Did you fail to see that?. Can you say, squint or reading glasses. Do you really want people who like the Apple OS experience to be infected by Windows Mobile? Really, what good is a phone that is plagued with so many potential problems and won't be supported by network services? So really, what good is smaller when there are so many hassles in the end? I say get the iPhone and have some peace and fun.

XukidewHannaH- You're link is for the original iPhone that was released last year. Wrong phone. This is for the iPhone 3g, which has NOT been released on the US market. People get your facts straight before sticking your foot in your mouth.
