I think Apple needs to take the Optus approach to selling products. From experience people don't care about price. If they have to pay $800-1000 for a phone they will. Look at N95 8GB Aus$1300 on first release, it sold like mad! No one even cared about the price. Give us a phone with everything and people will empty their pockets in the store. I would.. THE PEOPLE WANT VALUE..not a cheap price.

i was one of those freaks who woke up at 3am (Aus Time) to watch the WWDC on some website for free. I am disappointed real bad. No MMS, Bluetooth file sharing, A2DP and copy/paste. I work for Optus World in NSW, I am going to have a real hard time convincing people they are getting a good deal here. Thanks Steve for making my life harder!! I'll be straight forward 70% customer couldnt care less about camera, or voicce dailing (they have never heard of it!!). But MMS and bluetooth file transfer/ A2DP is going to hamper the additional addons that we need to meet targets. No memory card slot either.
If Apple uses a software update to fix MMS, Bluetooth profiles and copy/paste, I think selling this phone would be a little easier.
Otherwise it is going to be a momentous flop!

This is a horrible phone for one main reason. It does not come as SIM free. I live in a country where there is no contract phones so I can not get this. Boo to Apple for this!!

Best phone ever made will i get it as soon as it releases in india. should have a 3 or 5 mp camera anda secondary camera as well.But its Greatwithoutit too.

what about the video recording capabilities????
still lacking in some areas compared to some of htc, samsung, nokia, sony ericsson devices.
samsung i900 & htc touch diamond/pro are superior in many areas

Canada will finally have it, but Rogers will make the price high on a 3 yr plan definitely. Kind of unfair since the price of this phone is only $199 for 8gb

i was waiting with a lot of hopes that the iphone 3G will make up all its limitations, but it did not.
Now i will go for samsung i900 or Nokia Tube.
shame on apple iphone 3G. An incomplete half-hearted job done by JOBS.

Some of you just dont get it...video calling is not a popular feature in North America yet...it is in Asia and just slightly in Europe it is of no use to most people.....it is an expensive novelty that north american networks cant handle if every iphone user used it...imagine 200 cars trying to get down a one lane highway.....
If you are going to complain, complain about teh lack of MMS that is the only real stupid thing left out by Apple, that and Bluetooth file transfer..but shocker those 2 items can be changed via software updates so dont think of it as something long and gone

All features are amazing except the camera which they should have upgraded atleast to 3.15 Megapixels plus a flash...

Wow, amazing! Apple did it. Such a phone and less than $200 worldwide White only comes in 16 Gig please correct it.
