when the first gen iphone hit the market i got one for testing with in one week of testing the battery was gone.
the company that i work for had to return the device to apple.
if that was you the public you would have had to pay $86 for apple to replace the battery, on a new device you don't want to do it your self because you void your warranty.

Most of the world uses GSM, the droid is worthless except for a very small part of the world.
