The MOST RETIRED Phone to date!!!
only alive due to hype and false advertising!^.^
(btw, this phone sucks BIG TIME at gaming when u even compare it to a 4 year old PSP; this is just a phone - nothing more, nothing less with some crappy fart apps and gran-turismo ports, which lacks some basic phone functionality!!!)

Anyway who cares, more iPhones are being sold outside the US, these days.

With the IMEI's the first 3G's we got in july 2008 started with 0116..., when the 3GS launched they were up to 0118... the latest 3GS that we got last week are now at 0012... that will give you some idea of how old it is.

And will the phone ,if unlocked from .au site after paying the $75 work on a vodafone sim in india?
Also, isnt the 3gs unlocked available in singapore cause there are many local stores selling them claiming that they've ordered it from the apple store (hongkong)online. my problem is how does my freind who is going to buy it from any of these places not get scammed into buying a phone that does not work in india .
what can one check in the iphone to verify it is a genuine factory unlocked phone . is checking the 3.1 software version enough or does one have to check some "part number".

To officially unlock you go to the Vodafone au website enter the IMEI and pay $A75 with a credit card then you restore it in iTunes and you get a message saying "Congratulations your iPhone is unlocked".
I was just talking to my brother in Singapore, the 8GB was $S900, the 16GB 3G (not 3GS) was $S1100 and the 32 $S1300.
At the moment because the Singapore $ is so high, they are cheaper in Australia.

Does anybody know where can one buy a factory unlocked iphone 3gs in singapore, bangkok or australia.??.and how can one distinguish between a factory unlocked iphone 3gs and a jailbroken one other than the software version which I think has to be 3.1( for a factory unlocked one ) ?
I am planning to get a factory unlocked iphone 3gs from one of these countries thru a friend .the apple online store will take 2 weeks to dispatch it so my only choice is to buy it from a good local electronics store in these countries.. what does one have to check ( in the phone )while buying it to make sure it is factory unlocked .

It’s thin. Just slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS and the thinnest QWERTY-slider we’ve ever seen.
It is the fastest Android device we’ve ever used. (It’s running a TI OMAP3430 processor)
The feel of the device is very reminiscent of the OQO 02 model computer. Just smaller.
It’s metal with a non-spring-assisted slide, very sturdy, and half soft-touch plastic.
Awesome capacitive display. Plus it’s huge. Easily the best screen we’ve ever seen on an Android handset, and an amazing screen overall.
The QWERTY keyboard is actually pretty usable and has a soft-touch rubberized finish. We’ve been told the keyboard design isn’t final on this unit, thus the two no-shows. Have we mentioned this phone flies? It’s the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive.
From what we’ve been told, Google had a direct hand in the Motorola Droid. Something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made when designing and making the phone. Interesting, huh? There’s a desktop cradle/charger that will ship with the Motorola Droid that we’ve been playing around with. It turns your Droid into a “multimedia station” and displays local weather, the time, etc. No one wants to listen, but it makes the CLIQ looks like a child’s toy (partly because it is, and partly because the Droid, even in its non-final form, is the most impressive phone we’ve used since the iPhone. It’s positively amazing).

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2009I dont think apple would care if it stops working after you... moreThe warranty isn't voided if you plug it into iTunes and hit restore, but if it then works as advertised then there's no need for a warranty claim, is there?
I suppose if you bought a netbook with Windows installed, removed it and installed Linux, then Microsoft would not be particularly helpful either.
