I wonder WHEN I can have the perfect phone: the one that will have absolutely NO complains about anything, size, weight, keypad, joystick, landscape, compass, GPS, touch response, easy to navigate customisable UI, fast and stable OS, email, sms/mms, HD video, HD playback, HD radio, stereo BT for all apps, real time notifications for all apps, fast multitask for at least 20 apps, battery for 2 days with 1 hr GPS, 2 hr full desktop view web browsing with flash, applets, 2 hr gaming, 2 hr of mp3, 2 hr of HD video play, 1 hr of HD recording and photo with flash, 1 hr phone call, 1 hr email/sms/mms, 1 hr just turning on/off for admiring such a piece of fine wireless engineering..

    And WHEN?

The iPhone was made for people who dont want to complicate their lives with things like that. I hated the first iPhone, the 3g was interesting but now I really want the 3gs.

Iphone finally has found its first GUI rival: the N900. If you like the Iphone (=nice User Interface), then you should better check out the N900. It can run both Firefox and OpenOffice in full PC versions :)

I have HTC touch pro2, and off course it has a task manager. There are two options for the task manager to work either you tap x and you just hide the program or either you tap x and the task manager exit the program itself, so you will not have any programs running in the background.

We are humans; born to understand and think about what we are doing not just let the technology drives us.

Multi-tasking on a cellphone, if that were an option on the iphone everyone would be complaining "it's sooo slow!" or "the battery dies in 2 hours!". Apple made the right move in keep the OS streamlined, it's a mass-marketed device, the phone needs to be useful (simplified) to as many people as possible.

Oh yeah, I own an iphone.

Pro, 20 Aug 2009You just made me laugh, a complicated thing like a task man... moreTell it to the customer I saw today who wondered why her Blackberry Storm was so slow.

I had to show her how to hold down the menu key to bring up the task manager, there were thirty things running in the background including games, I had to show her how to go to each application and scroll down to exit and teach her to exit things properly.

This is what happens when smartphones break out of the geek minority.

The iPhone has no such issues, press home in any App and it's gone.

Multitasking = the ability to do more than one thing at once, which the iPhone can do, therefore the iPhone multitasks.

And yes it was designed to do so in a controlled way as Apple's main priority is the user experience and that doesn't involve such complicated things as task managers.

I'll bet that at least half of people who buy Symbian smartphones would not even be aware of it's existance or how to use it.

Anonymous, 19 Aug 2009But it does multitask with the native Apps. I guess you ... moreI dont mean to create an argument but, people dont seem to see that "multitasking", at least not full multitasking, is more than just music and web at the same time. I read an article on the web (cant remember the page but will look for it) that says that true multitasking is operating different types of apps (native, 3rd party) at thse same time without closing either one. I had a SE C902 and it too can "basic" multitask as the iPhone. But opening various documents, web browser and whatever it is you want to use, all you have to do is open a task manager. The iPhone lacks that. It has thd potential but it doesnt have it directly available. Which is why they made the Push Notifications. Sure multitasking can be as useless as it is helpful, and drains battery power and slows down phones but in some cases it can really help you out when you dont have your laptop or whatever. Still people should make this forum less personal and keep focused on the phone itself.
