Anonymous, 18 Jun 2009for the same price of an iphone 3gs with a contract i could... moreSo I take it you will not make any calls or use the phones in any way over the next two years then?
Which is throwing money away when you could be subsidizing a phone, it's known as total cost of ownership.
btw the pricing is different in different countries, like in Australia they will be probably available on $A69 plans which is exactly the same as any other phone, in fact I'd say the N97 will cost more because there are 480,000,000 Nokia sheep in the world.
"for the same price of an iphone 3gs with a contract i could get about 3 nokia n97s and a samsung ommnia
or 2 or 3 htc hd's

Flash, video calling facilities are very basic to any premium phone. Why Apple neglected on those features is a mystery. However, the thing about 3G S is about data transmission. Shame on Blackberry and Nokia for not bringing such a winner inspite of being in the business longer than Apple. Apple on the otherhand makes them shiver with just 3 models so far. Wakeup Nokia and Blackberry.

I'm going to be controversial here. We own an iPod Touch V2, probably one of the best products Apple have ever produced. More so than the iPhone itself because it's smaller, faster (than the 2&3G models) and probably the future of phones once P2P wireless comms replaces the evil networks. HOWEVER, after having owned a Palm Pilot or two, a Sony Ericsson P900 & 990 and many other gadgets, I have concluded that a stylus is the most intuitive, accurate and flexible manner in which to operate a touch screen device. And by failing to build such capability into the iPhone/Touch OS from day one, Apple have locked it's users into a way of life that is perfectly tuned to spending quick money in the (excellent) App Store on (agreed) excellent apps, but users are going to be limited by fingers covering up the screen and inability to use hand writing recognition or draw pictures. I was able to write on the screen of my SE PXXX series way faster than even the new OS 3.0 QWERTY keyboard and enjoyed drawing on the screen too. Related, I was trying out the new cut and paste feature, and while it is well implemented, the fact ones fingers block the view when trying to drag the LEFT part of a selection makes it an annoying process.
With HTML 5 on the horizon, phones like the N97 and future resistive touch screen based Android models may eventually offer apps that equal those on the iPhone, with the benefit of versatile input options.
Yes, the iPhone OS is robust and works, but after 6 months of playing with the iPod Touch V2, there are many times when I feel limited. I want to doodle, sketch, point too and do other things that come more naturally than using my great big pinky.

This phone looks tremendous but why no flash on the camara? It is a common sense additional feature that should have been included.
