First of all, you put your sim card in an unlocked phone, then it works with your carrier for voice calls.
Secondly when you listen to music or use the camera or video record or gps, how are you not using your phone. Plus using free wi fi. I've had my n95 for 2 years, unlocked and i enjoy it all the time.
It cost more to get a phone at a reduced price with a contract and data plan that you must take for 2 to 3 years, then to buy an unlocked phone and use free wi fi.
Plus your voice plan cost separate from your 3 year month to month data charges.

I accidentally update my iphone into version 2.2.1 and modem firmware to 02.30.03,and then My Iphone has no signal at all. What am I going to do? How can I downgrade the firmware and the version of my Iphone??????? thanks

Now which network in America are you going to use the N97 on?
It's not CDMA so that rules out Verizon and Sprint, it doesn't support the 1700 HSDPA band so that rules out T-Mobile...
...I guess you'll just be buying a phone to not use as a phone.

Can you wait 1 more year? If yes then you'll be seeing better features in the next version. With this current release, they just slapped up few crappy features which some apps already offered and selling it as 3GS. Don't buy it.

BEST PHONE. the only missing functionalities in this device are FM RADIO, FM transmitter and a Flash (preferibly xenon).
As for video calls yes it true it's missing but who really does video calls.

I have an iphone 16G ,,,in my opinion the iphone creator does not want to give tomuch characteristic compaired with the other mark as Samsung or Nokia,,,, its a matter of comercial strategy not to give all in one time .

Not enough difference to be worth an upgrade from my current iPhone 3g.
Should be at least 5 Meg pixel camera or 8, to compete these days.
A micro card slot would also make it more competative, giving a greater memory for video and media and allowing easier data transfer from phone to pc.
As usual Apple hold back and drip feed new features. I shall give the 3gs a miss and wait for the next version. Apple.. So nearly brilliant but always not quite there! Shame

well the iphone user feels let down by his phone and the n97 user well he is inteligent n97 forever

Most cam phones nw have flash installed. And most people are really making it a big deal. But the truth is, flash from camera phones hardly make a difference in low-light conditions because of their very ability to provide light in such a very short distance. move away for like 3 meters from the subject then use the flash, the output image is still disappointing - very noisy image output. Camphones are just good for daylight conditions. No matter how high the resolution, still it gets noisy in low lights even with the flash. Tried so many phones. but none of these flash have been impressive enough.
