Everybody must bu... morewhether flash sucks or not is a moot point and very much a matter of taste - and it does nothing to change the fact that there is considerable online and offline content already out there that is supported by it and therefore inaccessible to iPhone users - considering it is supported at no cost on other platforms like Android - so there really is no good or valid reason for Apple not to support it.
Apple's refusal to support it is simply another example of their control freakery.
If I'm paying around £400 more over the period of a contract for an iPhone than I would for an equally good android handset like the Nexus 1 or Desire, I would not only expect more rather than less for my money, but I would also expect to have full access to any content that I want - and not the content that Apple decide for me.
Like I said - its a very pretty piece of kit - but I find Aplle's restrictive attitude and control freakery a major let down, and puts me off this platform completely

This is one reason good enough to avoid it. Another one is that Flash is an old and resource/battery intensive technology. So Flash sucks. After HTML 5 will be largely adopted, everybody will forget about Flash... Just check how many thincgs you can do with HTML 5!...

and it has nothing to do with technology and/or security and everything to do with money.

Apple simply cannot allow anything to get in the way of squeezing every last penny out of their users, and as applications can be written in flash and made freely available via the web this threatens to cut out Apple's App store and, possibly even worse than this as far as apple is concerned, stops them from having absolute control over what their users do with their handsets.
This is fundamentally what I dislike about Apple - the phones themselves are very nice - if a little (or a lot lol!) over priced, the OS is lovely to use - but Apple are such control freaks that they feel thay have to dictate and control everything their users do.
I prefer the more open attitude of the Android platfom

No phone OS on the planet can match at this time Alpple's iOS' ease of use and app support. That's a fact and a consensus. Symbian... are you joking? Android... still playing catch-up, far-back in the dust.

Good build quality of in-built components & design aren't everything unless the OS technology can deliver application support & features that most rival OS provide their users. I'm sorry no amount of apple blubbery or style are going to make me buy a seriously lacking OS. The phone cannot deliver the needs that a basic OS should from day 1. It's no good.

I am the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S that is the beautiful handset in every way. I am not the greatest iphone fan. In fact i think they are overpriced for what they are and what they offer, especially for geeks like myself . But I cant say anything bad about the apple because without the advent of the iphones and the way they changed the market forcing other competitors to actually bother making better phones instead of the next 50megapixel monster, we would not have the array of amazing devices that have come to be. Therefore kudos to apple for chaning the market and bringing new features, new ideas and stylish designs to the masses.

In a new survey released today, Fortune has chosen Apple CEO Steve Jobs as the smartest CEO in tech. The survey drew upon 100 advisers and experts for nominations in ten different categories, who were then evaluated based on their perceived intelligence as well as their impact over recent timeframes.

Fortune points to the incredible success of Apple since Jobs' 1997 return to the company, seeing its market capitalization rise to $250 billion as the company changes industry after industry.
Rocking one industry could be luck, but upending four? That's smart.

He is a visionary, a micromanager, and a showman who creates such anticipation around new products that their releases are veritable holidays. And Jobs is a pop culture icon like no other business executive: An episode of The Simpsons a few years ago featured a Jobs-like character named Steve Mobs.

The profile also points to his "dictator-like control" that has resulted in the eschewing of Adobe's Flash technology while also driving Apple's products to possess the "elegance" of refined design the company is so famous for.
