Apple knew they were faulty but they also knew their average customer is just so desperate to have the latest thing with the Apple logo on it they'll buy it anyway because they worried about the image of not being able to show off the latest iPhone.
So it just shows how much Apple actually cares about their customers when they have to choose between money and quality.

too much for the poor quality!!!
hoping they could make it up to the millions who loved the iphone during the time of steve...really disappointed...sorry iphone lovers, there are many phones in the market that are way better than the latest iphone 5...they beat iphone 5 one many aspects..i think its really time for you to change..

apple said scratches on aluminium are normal but nokia n8 is made of aluminium only...but it hardly get scratches...shame on u apple....:D
apple iphone 5 is just crap...nthng in front of sammy s3 and nokia lumia 920 ,...

Question when u bought ur iphone 4 or 4S did u find any scratches or scuffs or even dents? None cuz Steves doing a fab job on quality control and thats a fact.

Scratch a SG3 or a lumina 920...scratches are barely noticable but with iphone 5....
Apple will replace it with the same make, scratch magnet. Thats a fact.

Wave 2 of iPhone 5 launch on September 28, the iPhone 5 goes on sale in 22 more countries.
As per previous years, more iPhones on the market will shed light and truth on certain issues whether overblown or not. (Scuff issue out of the box may be a bad batch, or not)

Are you telling me if you scratch the back of your SGS3 with keys Samsung replaces it?
Be aware that there are two things going on here.
1. Aluminium scratches, that is normal, the same way glass breaks. This is simply material choice, and the benefit is the iPhone 5 is now much more durable, however it may be at the expense of scratching. Basically it is the same like the original iPhone.
2. The main issue is some iPhones come with scratches out of the box. This is simply unacceptable, and one should immediately replace it. Apple so far replaces any iPhone with scratches.

Apple knew about this and still let the costumers suffer. How can u go from day to day thinking your phone is gonna get scratched or dented. They're suggesting cover it up? Hmmm waste of beauty. Feel sorry for u lot. Apple let you down here big time. Sometimes it is good to have a change....
