Industry's eye is simply on iPhone the default smartphone leader of the industry. No other phone commands such attention. Year in year out, iPhone this iPhone that, and Apple is going to die. Simple fact is people buy iPhone because they like it, when a much better phone comes, people will like that phone more and buy that one instead, simple.

For me, I buy the phone that serves me best, it could be the number 1 phone, or the number 5 phone. Who cares, as long as it does what I want best.

Someone who needs BBM will choose Blackberry, even with the terrible market share. Someone who wants an astounding camera could get the Pureview 808 with its 40MP camera. Most who like iPhone is because it does many things in a simple intuitive way, with a good set of features. Those who want customizability can go for Android.

I would rather spend time talking about the good points of the phone I like, as opposed to constantly bashing phones that I don't.

Saw both the black and white models, and as HM the Queen would say, Ï am not amused", the quality of the I phone 4 is much better.

Microsoft, Nokia and RIM went down the drain for poor quality on user experience, innovation and they took it as granted that consumer cannot ditch them. Apple did great on iPhone as long as they had Steve Jobs on the driver seat who won't take a shit to compromise in quality and user experience. But the current bunch has become greedy and ready to compromise on quality (scratching issue) and user experience (Maps) the latter was a totally foolish thing to do, they could have waited till they test it fully and then with just a small os update could have replaced it latter once ready.

pixels , 25 Sep 2012just go ahead an check urself r u real or living ina fanta... moreAgree that the quality should have been checked properly before putting it on consumers hand. I think apple is getting more greedy and trying to encash on hypes and to encounter the rapid selling galaxy 3 they released it before it is properly cooked. The iOS is good but if quality of hardware is compromised then it gradually going to go down the drains. It will become like just another local Chinese brand. One day consumer is not going to buy an iPhone just on iOS eco system, if the hardware do not do catchup with the current flagship mobiles out there and the quality better then those. When I bought my first smartphone and HTC in 2008 for 1300SGD I was unhappy with quality where the color faded after spending so high.My next phone after that was Nokia E72 only because it was made of steel and I have with me till today. Sleek metallic phone without any scratch even if it is without any protective cover other then a screen guard. It is being use by my 12yr daughter and survived all the torture till today. I was happy with iPhone 4 with the fragile but good built quality. no scratches or color fading yes you need a protection now just to be sure you do not break it by dropping but on a daily use it remained as new as in day one even after 2 years. But with iPhone 5 build quality issue it shows how the company became greedy, and don't think they have anyone like steve job who can fire people for their shoddy work, like showing the door to the guy responsible for the antenna issue of iPhone 4 and delaying white iPhone 4 for ages as they couldn't get it right.

Lol at all the Android trolls who will keep visiting repeating little things on phones they will not buy. The original iPhone was also made of aluminum and also scratched without care. Keep it coming though, iPhone 5 still top of the charts, usually daily hits would have dropped it from top spot by now. Must be more popular than ever.

'this is normal'...'the response is not that surprising, considering that Apple was aware of the issues prior to releasing the smartphone to the public.'

I am surely going to buy this phone in October when probably they would get the quality issue sorted out. And why I am buying this, not that I love it but I will get it free of cost with renewing my contract which Singtel told me I can renew without any top up after I completed just under 18 months.
i have already replaced my previous iphone 4 and ipad 2 with galaxy tab 7.7. but only problem is I will never get jelly bean on 7.7. and that is a deal breaker as it is as smooth as iOS. Anyway planing to carry iphone 5 + tab 7.7 (which is smaller and thinner then ipad but excellent form to carry on hand easily for longer hours while on move.
But if one has to seriously pay the full amount to get the iphone 5 (no contract) I would wonder how many they would sell. iPhone for its high price never was a success in the world two most populous country where you hardly see any organized mobile contract in place. Andriod being a better OS but is so heavily fragmented that after spending so much on high end phone (spent 888SGD on tab 7.7) you do not expect to get any latest OS (like jelly bean) upgrade after a year or less.
