I had purchased the p... moreI think you may be partially correct people tend to devalue the phone quickly but at the same time I've noticed that people are willing to pay more for a used iphone c than an android around the same age and condition.
I'm not saying androids are without value, rather resellers and used phone buyers place too much value on second hand iphones. Any phone past it's warranty shouldn't be valued more than $200.
For the 5c and any phone you should buy it based on it's value to you as a user, not what you can get for it on craigslist.

The resale value of the phone is bad. I had purchased the phone on a payment plan on September last year. About a couple days later when I was shopping for tools at a pawn shop I saw the phone for half the price I was paying for it at the pawn shop. I may buy a 32GB version when the 6S goes on sale. I ended up paying off the 5C 16GB version and gave it to my Dad as a birthday present. I then upgraded to a 6 plus as my main phone. The 6 plus is like my Ipad mini for me I mostly use it at home and on my days off from work. I have my Dad's old iphone 4 with a cracked screen and a 4S as the phone I use most of the time.

i got both 5s n 5c..i personally like 5c more in term of build quality..5s is aluninum but gets scratched easily and i just drop it from my hand on the table thats about 5cm height..it had a bad dent on it..5c is plastic but honestly you can tell that the 5c plastic is like 1000% more rigid than other plastic phones and it also has a nice feel to the hand..it doesnt feel cheap at all..apple makes a really good quality phones..go for 5c if you are more into color kind of person..5s is a good choice but yeah..risk of getting scratch and dent is higher..thats my personal opinion btw..not all will think the same

I just got the 8gb 5c and can say I'm pleased with it. You have to adopt a different mindset with the 8gb (just over 4gb available). Think minimalistic. You like running apps? Pick the best one. Decide which music streaming service is the best and use that one. Keep just a cd worth of music on the phone and rotate often. Back up your photos to the cloud and delete them from the phone once a month. The best games are the smallest and how many do you really need? Minecraft is a 17 mb download. I found a camera app that lets me choose video size. It's really not that hard and shuffling your apps and media keep the phone feeling fresh. My cousin just spent an extra $400 on the iPhone 6 because she wanted to transfer all the music, photos and video she's acumulated from the last two iPhones. That's insane!
