Hi friends. I need some advice for my next phone. I have a iphone se and looking to upgrade. Here in India iPhone 8 64gb and Galaxy S9 both are available at same price of around Rs52000. I know specs wise and features wise iphone 8 looses big time against S9, but i also know perfomance wise and security wise iphone 8 should last 4 to 5 years as against around 3 years for the S9. What should I buy. I am comfortable with any OS, so thats not an issue. I am looking more from value for money and longevity as i am not going to spend 50k every few years so my phone should last me around 4 to 5 years if i spend so much.

I can tell that each update keeps on improving immensely and the s8 is the best phone I have ever had. Currently running android 7. My wife has an ip8 which she likes but I would not swap with her in a fit.

Use this method when setting up a new ip8:
1. On your old iPhone turn off icloud backup.
2. Connect old iphone to iTunes, it will autobackup.
3. Set up your new phone, when asked chose to restore itunes backup.
4. Chgange the name of your new phone (general - about)
5. Click on each app that didnt install (marked with a cloud symbol) to download them from Appstore.
6. Start each app once to finish initializing and setup as required.
Connect itunes again to sync new apps (like TV app content, your videos will not be restored from backup since TV wasnt yet installed)
iTunes backups are super fast, and you avoid days of icloud downloading.

Do you know what youre getting into? I buy android phones rom time to time to keep up with whats going on but the last Android i bought i sold the same day i received it. It has gone completely downhill and is so hard to use now that it was physically painful. Its now no doubt, android was at its best with Android 2.3, then it went down a while and up again with 4.1-4.3 but since then it has plummeted to where its current level can best be described as "useless".
If ip8 is sold out it must be a temporary thing.

It's a decent phone. What i say is, its a "performance" phone. Nothing new or special. But performance is satisfactory. I have been using it for last 2 weeks, and i noticed battery life is quite impressive. My old iPhone 6 became crap. Don't know how long my iPhone 8 will remain fast.

AnonD-688770, 20 Feb 2018terrible waste of money (in my opinion), just an "improved"... moreNo significant improvement in performance between the Note5 and the 8 or the 7 and the 8?
The is almost a 40% improvement in the performance of the 8 as compared that of the 7. When it comes to Note5 the difference is so chaotic it's not even worth mentioning.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2018in my opinion you should go for iphone 8+ because by the ye... moreApple doesn't stop providing users with it's latest software updates unless the phone is so old that it's age has rendered it unusable for practical reasons. By practical reasons I mean e.g. the storage capacity, as for example an update may potentially exceed in size the overall storage capacity of a 3 year old device. What you are describing applies more to other providers of Android phones that may depending on the occasion cease to provide software upgrades even as soon as 1 year after the launch of some of their smartphones (e.g. OnePlus or Samsung)

Iphone 7 user, 25 Feb 2018Should i buy iphone 7+ or iphone 8? I love the dual camera ... morein my opinion you should go for iphone 8+ because by the years apple may stop phone updates on the 7 and some feature wouldn't be eligible for iphone 7 but the 8 would survive more because it's newer personally i'm facing a little problems with my iphone 5 because my my phone doesn't match some apps requirements on the other hand the iphone 5S is still supported with updates basically because it's newer
good luck :)
