Apple may launch eSIM-only iPhone 14 model in some markets
With more carriers around the world adopting the eSIM standard we may soon get phones without physical SIM slots. As per a report published on The Wall Street Journal, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 series may arrive in eSIM-only versions for some markets. Apple is not expected to make the full switch from physical SIM to eSIM on all its devices but rather test out if consumers would be open to an eSIM-only phone.

Apple has already reportedly notified several major US carriers to prepare for its eSIM-only iPhone models set to arrive this Fall. The major advantage of removing the SIM slot on a phone is that it frees up scarce physical space inside the phone which can be utilized for other components. Security is another aspect that will benefit users as telecoms can send out security updates to millions of users simultaneously.
