Apple officially announces September 12 launch event for the iPhone 15
Mumblings a few weeks ago started doing the rounds pegging September 12 as the date of Apple's next grand unveiling event, and today the company itself has confirmed it.
The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max (which may end up being called iPhone 15 Ultra) will be announced on September 12 at 10 AM PT. As always, this will be streamed online at apple.com as well as in the Apple TV app.
The tagline/word that Apple chose in this instance is "Wonderlust", a play on the word "wanderlust", which means "a strong desire to travel". In Apple's case, that would then translate as "a strong desire to be wowed", perhaps? Clearly the fact that we're left, erm, wondering, is part of Apple's plan.
All four new iPhones will have USB-C ports thanks to the recent EU law mandating those, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max / Ultra is rumored to be the first Apple device ever to feature a periscope zoom camera. Both Pro models are expected to sport titanium frames, in a move away from stainless steel. The entire series will replace the mute switch with a programmable "Action button", and the Dynamic Island will be featured on all of them too.
Apple may also choose to refresh its AirPods lineup to give them USB-C ports as well. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 are expected to star in the show too.
