I do not "think" there were smartphones before apples iphlone, i used smartphones way before that, all sorts of smartphones, with cameras, no cameras, more power or lass power, 3G capable or not. Also, nokia did not lost the smartphone business because of apple, but because of their own inability to see the future of phones, but mostly because elop (the tojan horse) killed nokia platforms Symbian and MeeGo with 2 wordsb Burning Platforms. Apple would be no where near if Nokia would have never made those mistakes of hiring elop and ignoring the future of mobile devices. But well, probably apple was helped from microsoft to bring nokia down, so they can go up, if not, apple would have been dead by now, and microsoft would have NOT liked that, because of a whole lot of Legal issues they would face in the USA. Oh you probably did not know that, yes microsoft helped and helps apple to stay, since ever, and killing nokia might have been one of them.

As i have already said, the firsr iphone was not a smartphone, was a dumbphone with a touchscreen, did not have any apps and the only thing it could do, was to send emails, did not even have 3G, something very common in those times and age. Before iphlone was blackberry nokia Siemens and microsoft doing real smartphones, that could do anything devices this days can do. You probably never used a smartphone before iphlone, so how would telling you smartphones names help? Let's see, in 2003 nokia released the 3650, a device with expandable memory, camera on board, multitasking, video recorder, bluetooth and all it's functionalitie (not the crippled blietooth in iphlones) infrared and of coirse it had mp3 player and so on, it was a true multimedia device. One could sideload apps from many individual Software Companies, that were not sucked in a store and paid scraps. Gameloft or Psiloc beeing some of the best known. With this apps you could enhance the device with even more functions, like play games in two, connecting two devices via bluetooth, or TV changing chanels with a universal remote app from Psiloc. Sending emails and browsing internet with EDGE speeds. And all that 4 years before the first iphone that was not even able to make a proper call. Why apple was able to puncture in the market is 1st because of their manipulating skils and second because the smartphones were business class devices and were never sold as phones for the mass, even the ads were pointing business class, that is what apple did differently, marketed a dumbphone to be a smartphone and called it for everybody. Nokia and other brands failed to see that, that was wuite obvious, smartphones were ment to take over anyways, but certainly not with apple in front. Also before the first iphone cmae to market nokia was already experimentig with touch screens like 7710 or the internet pocketable device like N800, nano technologie and bending devices and screens, in 2011 showcasting a bending prototype at mwc. Ericsson had touch screen also way before apple even considered a phone. Capacitiv touchscreens or not, there were smartphones before apple and they were extremely packed, to the point that even now, their is nothing new on the table, besides greater performance, internet speeds and huge screens.

          You think there was already a smartphone before the iphone was release? Which unit? Did it have a capacitive touch screen and not the resistive? Does it work without stylus? How about the internal storage? Can it do a music player, a navigator, and a mobile internet browser in one unit? How big was the unit? How was the UI? Can it be connected to a WIFI? How about the apps? How many apps can you download? Does it have a keypad?

          When iphone was released. Many people didn't know how to use them. But as the user begins to know how it works. They knew it was that easy! Why did you think that after the iphone was released. Many have followed? Many have failed? Many have closed down? Even the once famous NOKIA BRAND is now a low level smartphone company because they resisted! And now look at them? Only a handful are buying nokia products!

          It takes time before people know how to use a smartphone. Nobody is perfect.

            I think there will be no Uitra model, i looked at all the iPhone 15 cases and the largest pro max model, the ultra model is Missing.

                What I hate about this: Apple's shenanigans and the fact it took them so long to switch to Type C

                      Foxtrot2Novmbr, 30 Aug 2023Well let see what happens after a month or so.The "dynamic island" that is actually a notch that gets bigger/smaller by software, is there for more then a year now and nobody besides the chinaware is interested in it, and nobody will be. As for the iphone x notch. Wrong again, apple copied the notched from other devices and not the other way around. And to your and Marias information, because you alsom most probably do not know that. The first iphone was a dumbphone with a touchscreen, and when it first came out, smartphones were produced for more then 10 years. So yeah, apple was not the first in absolutly anything, not in the computer department, not in the software department, and definetly not in the smartphone department, and in smartphone fetures departament, not even close. They are the first in something tough. The first to sell phones that do not work and claim that you're holding them wrong.
