It was an excellent thing prior to the latest update received over WiFi. After the update the SIM shows network error and stopped registering to net works. It can no longer be used as a phone. Now it's like any other cheap tablet. I use vodafone SIM from Kerala, India.

Pls go to service centre and give them ,actually latest update has corrupted the Mother board.They will replac mother board

Yep, phone function and SMS are dead after the latest update and Asus wants to take the device to their maintenance, why, it doesn't help.
So I, like the rest of you, have to wait an update and use my old faithful Galaxy Tab 7.7

Asus FonePad 7 users need to submit their handset to the nearest service centre. They will copy a log file from the device and send to PSD team. They are working on a new update.
They will use the FonePad to detect the problem and try with new updates and tweaks which may also damage the phone. If they damage it they will replace the motherboard.
But my question to Asus is why don't they test the update on their own device prior releasing an update?
Everything is working fine except a basic functionality is calling or sending messages.
It's more than a week gone after the update hit the FonePad users. But still there is no solution.
Don't you think Asus must refund our money back and take their devices back to test and deploy updatesprior releasing a new update or new model.

After update 6.4.2, gyroscope is not properly work, it works after when screen rotation is on & then u restart yur tab. But networks work fine, i m reliance postpaid usr

Absolutely no network connectivity after last official OTA update from ASUS. No idea what is going on? I am from Africa... Not that easy to get to ASUS support centre, please provide solution or workaround. This Asus Fonepad 7 is brand new...

Facing same issue , post updating 89mb update fonepad not catching network, Asus contact Center says you have to bring and leave the same for a day, pathetic and unprofessional , seriously how can they release an update without testing

Asus Fonepad 7 India ME372CG. After the 89mb update, all gsm networks working on 1800mhz band wont function. Networks on 900mhz band shall work fine. In Mumbai, Vodafone and MTNL will work fine even after the update. However other network service providers like airtel, idea, reliance etc. won't work since they use 1800mhz band. Hoping a fix asap! Dunno how these stupid people release such updates with bugs in basic functions! Poor product and service!

What is problem with Fonepad 7? After 89mb update,I have had the same problem as. No calling, no incoming, no sellecting network, but being available to use the data internet. It is surely problem with this update of ASUS, because my simcard works very well with other smart phone.

Asus is hacking our Fonepads, recently 5 million google accounts have been hacked. They all are associated and hand in gloves with each other. Asus sent the virus attached with the update file with malafide.
