Hi,

Checked out the phone at Ezone, one thing I noticed was a small antenna that was in the box. The guy told me it was for plugging for using GPS, he opened the slot and showed me where it was to go. Is this true ? Will GPS not work till that metal antenna is stuck into the slot coz it would be a real pain to carry that around. Prashanth could you confirm ... That aside the feel / size of the phone seemed really nice. Will need to find a cheaper place to buy it though. Ezone Price Rs 12,990/- with no freebies.

bwaman, 02 Aug 2008i am first time user of gps. can anybody tell me step by st... moreNav4All: connect to the internet through the PDA and enter www.nav4all.com in a browser on it. Then you get a page with a download link. The downloaded program has the extension CAB which you can install with the File Browser on Windows Mobile.
After installing, launch the program from the Programs group and first check the GPS settings. Search for a GPS device and after it found it, go to "Where am I", and after some seconds or minutes it will find your coordinates.

Unfortunately, both Nav4All and Google Maps need an active internet connection to download the maps on demand. So you have to be both outside a building to have a GPS signal, and also have an active Wifi or GSM data connection.

As for installing Google Maps on the SD card, simply select "\Storage card" when asked while installing.

I am from Bangalore and after reading the various feedbacks/reviews, I finally purchased my first pocket pc phone ASUS P320. I find the phone to be pretty good in my last 2 days of usage. I also ordered 4 GB Sandisk micro SDHC memory card in ebay today for about 750 rupees. The phone costed me 12120 rupees including screen scratch guard.

I am not able to find the silicone type of cover for this phone at Bangalore. Please give your inputs about the availability of the silicon cover for this phone and whether it is good to go for such a silicone cover. One example cover can be found at:

            http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-Silicone-Skin-for-Asus-P320-Mini-Galaxy_W0QQitemZ370073990003QQihZ024QQcategoryZ14418QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em122

I am sure that I will be able to find cheaper in India compared to the 250 odd rupees it costs if I order at Ebay hongkong.

            Thanks.

            - Karthik.

It is their responsibility to write the installation Cab file properly enough to provide you the option of choosing the target installation drive. Skype seems to be a big offender here - it provides you with the option, and then goes ahead and installs half of its files on the main memory anyway!

You have a couple of options here - you could try to tweak the XML script in the Cab installers, or once the program is installed in the main memory, you could simply move it to the storage card and then adjust the shortcuts.

I got mine today for 285 euros (385 US$). Surprizingly, a car kit was included (charger, windshield mount, pda holder). I also bought separatedly a 4 GB card.
It works fine, the touchscreen works OK even with the cover on it. The speed of the device is also OK, Wifi works.
One question though. WiMo doesn't allow some programs (Opera Mini, Google Maps, TouchPal) to install themselves on the SD card, I always get an error. Installing on the internal Flash ROM works, however that free space is severely limited.

How can I install these programs on the SD card? Some registry hack...?

Thanks and if you have any questions about this neat device please ask.

But, their GPRS service, whatever they are calling it, DOES work on Windows Mobile phones - I can confirm it because I am using it on my P527 these days, and I have also used it on the P320. Don't always trust what the CSR's tell you - they don't know about half of the stuff that they are talking about!

The GPRS service, for which you are paying 99/month allows you to access anything on the web, and it DOES work fine on this and most other GPRS enabled phones.
