1. Wi-Fi and GPRS are 2 independent ways of obtaining a network connection. To use Wi-Fi, you need to enable it from within the Wireless Manager, and then connect to an access point. To enable GPRS, you need to contact your service provider since it involves a monthly fee.
2. The P527 comes with a GPS navigation software - once you install it, it becomes self-explainatory. You don't need any additional inputs, since this phone includes an in-built GPS receiver.
3. By default, the apps on the device are not shut down when you try to close them. They continue to use CPU as well as memory as a result of this behavior. Install an App Manager like pBar or Magic Button to correct this problem.
4. Search through the older threads for the type of downloads you need. Many people have suggested some good options in their messages.

Hi everyone!
I bought this phone this Sunday, the phone has killer features, I am really amazed.
However would anyone help me understaing cetain features, this is my first windows mobile. I use Airtel postpaid connection. Below are my quistions.
1) How do we use the Wi-Fi? Does it require GPRS activated by any chance?
2) How do we use the GPS service? Does it require any external input (data)? What is the procedure to use this service?
3) How can I increase the performance of my mobile?
4) Please suggest me some good downloads for it.

Seems strange cos I never faced any problems also I had not take a backup as all my contacts are in the SIM and there is no other data to be backed up

I did just did one more restore of the same back up and things are working fine and I have managed to get back my network!!

As and when my downgrade was successful from Windows 6.1 to Win 6, my airtel service was available, then as part of the next step, I did a normal restore activity... I regret this action of mine!!
Coz after i did a restore my phone is not able to recognize the network as airtel. I tried the same SIM in my Nokia mobile and airtel network is working fine...
Can anybody tell me where I went wrong or what I should be doing now;-)
Hmmm jst be double careful before you do what I just tried to do..
Tommy did yu encounter this problem???

Were you able to revoke to Win 6 with "V4123_WWE_IND_EXT_V106", as the description given for this is 8GB card extension??? I know you have been successful in this, but just wanted to clarify once again with you.

Hi Karthik,
You need to follow the same procedure to downgrade the phone as used for upgrading the only differnece you need to download the Old 6.0 firmware released in Jan 08 for the ASUS site
Version V4.1.23

More or less, same bad experience of having updated to 6.1 in many a ways -ve... Today I had a kind of experience, all of a sudden my speed dials were gone and the names of contacts that were there in my SIM were not being displayed. Had to reset it, but still the numbers are displayed other than their stored names!! Also the battery is getting eaten up faster from the day 6.1 is upgraded!!!
What's the solution pals?

Hi Guys,
Dhaval Manani here. I am using ASUS since Jun'08. It is very nice & handy handset. But sometime system can not support the program and mobile is gets hanged. GPS system is very nice and advantageous for the people who love to roam.........

Hi Niks,
I too faced a similar issue, it seems after it was doing that I started getting SIM card registration failed error message, I took my cell to Vodaphone, my provider and they gave me a new SIM and after that it did not happen again, try getting a newer SIM card, seems you are using the old one

Whenever I switch off my phone and turn it on, my memory card is wiped clean. I lose all the apps and pics.This has happened thrice now with switching off and once when a reset it.But surprisingly once the apps and contents of the card got back after 2-3 days.Can anyone tell me if they are experiencing the same problems? Is there a solution to it?

Hi Karthik,
In order to downgrade, do this go to ASUS site and search for downloads for P527 you will find this firmware V4123_WWE_IND_EXT_V106, download it and apply it using the normal method of connecting via ActiveSync and then applying the Firmware
Please can you do me a favor, I have filed a complaint with ASUS and since I have gone back to 6.0 the youtube problem is gone, so I just need the device error it gives you when you try to access youtube

Can someone please let me know how to downgrade from WM 6.1 to WM 6?
Reason why I switch back to 6.0:

1. I use GPRS. My mobile becomes 'not reacheable' for my callers. Its irritating. I need to restart the phone and then it will work. Then when I see the 'missed call alert' SMS, I would have got 10 calls :(
2. SMS messages are stored as conversations; so opening a message takes time (it had to load the previous messages too). God, this is another irritating thing.
3.The streaming player is gone. When we open YouTube videos, the player crashes! Brilliant.
I was more than happy with 6.0.
Can someone please let me know how to downgrade from WM 6.1 to WM 6?

Hi Prashant,
can you do me a favor ? it seems you must be also using the Indian 6.1 firmware, can you go to youtube.com from your phone and try to play any youtube video, you will notice that the player will try to play the video and instantly crash
Also details regarding your connection will also help, I tried it on Vodafone Mobile Connect which is EDGE connectivity and not the normal WAP connection

I agree that just because your question is not being answered, you shouldn't posting it again & again under different names - maybe others really don't have an answer for you, since nobody else may have encountered the same issue. I have seen a few issues too since I upgraded to WM6.1, but you can find answers to individual 6.1 issues elsewhere if they are not being answered here!

Try using uer TOMMY name and ask questions, probably you would get your answers, else it would be name games only, like how you posed the same question in somebody else's name...
