Perfect phone but lacks couple of must have hardware features like eSIM and IR Port. I really wish if it had come with these additional features along with nice to have FM too. Seriously IR Blaster Port is like a must have features in every phone. It is really convenient feature to operate mobile like a remote control for all household appliances. I dont know why manufacturers have dropped it. Really disappointed

Need your opinion folks. CNY/Spring festival is around the corner so phone sales a going crazy here. I stumbled across an ad selling 512gb CN set flashed to Global Rom, with cooler x included for Usd900. I personally find this to be a good deal. But my concern, flashing to global rom, can this be done?? Or the seller is faking the advertisement because i know from past models, asus locked root etc right?
Even if this can be done, will this method brick the phone down the road? And im sure the is no OTA firmware updates because of the flashing done. Manual firmware updates?

They really made an generic phone with "gaming" features. Even the Oneplus 12 sounds better than this! Sorry Asus but you took one big sidestep with the ROG phone 8 and failed with all these downgrades. Not paying the money you are asking for. End of an era bye bye.

I don't see why anyone would buy this. It has lost everything that made it different. Not even talking about the styling. I think it's good that they toned it way down. But why buy a phone for this price when you know the support and the camera are going to be less than budget tier. And believe me, my rog 6 takes worse pics and has less updates than my 3yo €200 Xiaomi phone. But still I prefer the rog phone cause of the cleaner software and the front facing notification led. But that's gone now...

Unpopular opinion, but I like the flagship approach while retaining a bit of gamer edge. It's gamer-y enough to be appreciated by gamers, but "exclusive" enough to be appreciated by the common masses.
The only problem is the price. This thing is insanely expensive, that I rather just get S24Ultra. Sure I lose the cool LED matrix on the back, but the S24 other features and price will make it up for it.

The ROG Phone 8 Pro is just too expensive for what they are offering. You can get the RM9 Pro or OnePlus 12 for half the price of the ROG Phone 8 Pro. Even if the Asus phone is a little better overall, you're paying double the price. Just buy the OnePlus 12 today and then buy the OnePlus 14 in two years time and have a better phone for same total money.

It would be, if this phone was still unique, but it's not. It's just a regular flagship now, with a gaming design on it's back. Any flagship can game perfectly, the cooling might be better on some than on others, but certainly not on this phone, when it get's hotter than the rest.
