I bought this phone one month ago, and I am going to give you my impressions.
The phone is fluent, it is fast, the games like "Modern Combat 5" works very good with any lag, obviously the slighter games works much better.
The camera is 13 MP and take really good pictures and videos in 1080p.
The software have interesting apps like "Gloves mode" where you can use your phone with gloves, you can even adjust the screen temperature, it also have an app for save more battery, the music and pictures app are good, fast and clean.
The battery life with a high-moderate usage can give you a good performance, the entire day.

Producing images colours that are on the warmer side which makes image colours look fake. Same goes with gaming performance. Its average and should run most casual games smoothly but fails to give the same experience on high end games like nova 3. Massive lag not playable at all. Dont go for reviews which are being shown on youtube. Am a firsthand user and have experienced these things. Also the screen quality looks bit dull and choppy for a 294ppi pixels ips lcd. (Am guessing its a tft screen and not ips lcd) however the touch response is excellent plus audio quality although they should've made volume a bit louder with and without earphone is very good as well, for day to day task, didn't notice any lag. Battery backup is good lasts a day under normal usage

Overall its a good phone..I am using this phone since one week.first about overall performance...it has a good design and there is only one button on the side ..for power. On and off..volume rocker is placed in back side below the camera lens.
battery backup is verygood and I can experience backup for more than one day.
camera clarity is good and impressive
Sound clarity is also good
It's too good for multitasking and there is no lags
Gaming experience is superb
Asus almost try to provide more than maximum functions for a phone below 10k..
I love this phone and its upgradable to upcoming Android version..and there is no heating or hang problems with the phone...
it's too good and worth money...

Although asus is sporting phone as a camera phone at a budget range, it isn't as good as other phones at this price. In fact i would say that this phone camera isn't good at all. Those people who are writing its got a good camera probably hasn'. t used a good camera phone even at this price. Also the build quality looks good but isn't built well and there were rough edges here and there on my phone and the screen quality is bad too. Its more on the warmer side which gives whites a yellowish look. One last thing the phone feels too light weight and cheap like kids toy like a refurbished toy made just to look good from the outside and to make money.anyone thinking to buy phone at this price range should obviously go for other brand. T

Well, I may stand corrected. Even though the Thailand and Malaysia websites for the KL phone make no mention of an IPS display, the ASUS global website for this model does describe it as an IPS display.
"ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) is equipped with a 1280x720 HD IPS display that offers wide 178-degree viewing angles. The staggering 294 ppi pixel density renders every image in eye-delighting detail."

Really poor marketing and customer information on their part -- unless they're using different displays for the same model of phone in different regions where they sell.

Both the ASUS Thailand and Malaysia websites spec pages say the ZE500KL has a 5 in TFT display, but no mention on either of IPS. So I'm kind of doubting the people here saying IPS, since I see no evidence of that, and neither does the GSMArena specs page make any mention of this model's display being IPS.
That aside, the thing that really worries me about this model is how's a 2070 mAh battery -- the variety being sold in Thailand -- going to do in powering a 5 inch display? Perhaps because it's not a IPS display or even Super Amoled, the screen they're using will have less battery drain. That could also explain why this model is being priced quite low relative to most of its other specs.
BTW, the KG model official specs only show an 8 MP main camera, while the KL model shows a 13 MP main camera, so people confusing the two may account for some of the confusion here.
PPS - For those posting here that the KL has an IPS display, can you please post a link to some official ASUS website that actually shows that for the KL model. Because, all the ASUS spec pages for the KL model that I'm looking at make no mention of IPS.

The other standard ASUS difference between their KG and KL models is the G means its only 3G capable, while the L means it's a 3G and LTE model. They're both ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500 phones, but the KG vs KL versions may have different other specs as well, beyond just having or not having LTE. Pay attention to the FULL model # details for whatever phone your checking/shopping for. This GSMArena thread is for the KL model with LTE. There's a separate listing for the KG model with 3G only. Don't confuse the two -- even though ASUS's model naming makes that pretty difficult.

just bought this last saturday,,erm quite good but sometimes will be a bit lagg,erm I like its 16gb with mid range price,but red mi xiao mi note is better when playing games
