Since zenfone 4,5 and 6 just got lollipop update, I would say zenfone 2 would get 5.1.1 in 3 to 4 months time. I would be surprise if they provide the update sooner since zenfone 2 is one of the most anticipated budget phone for 2015 with 4gb ram, powerful SOC and huge storage space (64gb).

After years of using Nexus phones I moved to the Asus Zenfone ZE551ML 64GB.
THe phone by itself is a good phone. A few glitches here and there but manageable. What however is unmanageable is the lack of Android OS updates by Asus. I would have expected a 5.1.1 update by now, but the phone is still on 5.0
Other than that the bloatware on the phone degrades the experience a bit. I have moved to using Nova Launcher in place of the Asus zen launcher. The Nova launcher is a better option.
All that I can say for prospective buyers is this... "Beware of buyng this phone, you will rarely get OS updates"

I just would like to ask why my phone doesn't ring..no sounds for alarm as well..but the settings is not on silent mode..it just started when the " MOON " Symbol appeared in the status bar..waiting for ur reply..tnx!

Hai guys....... please install "Camera zoom fx" app from playstore....... This camera app solves 50% of our 13mp camera problem........ it works well...... nice output.... (my mobile is top model zp2).......

Guys after 5 days of extensive usage I m happy with the performance but battery life is big problem earlier I was using dual SIM but now I am only using one SIM plz suggest how to improve battery life if this can be done then my problem Will be solved

Philippines, 01 Jun 2015Honor 4x is already beats zenfone2 in battery life and came... moreYou are right dear.Honor 4x is better in terms of display, camera and battery life.Initially I also thought Honor 4x as mediocre phone, but getting hands on changed my view completely.I know people will whine about Zenphone 2 processor and mighty 4gb ram, but they should take into account how well software and hardware is optimised into a system.Like an IPhone with 1 GB ram is more efficient then 4gb ram of Asus.

First and foremost to the bashers and whiners
PLEASE do buy a different phone. Do not BLAME the phone if you do not have the capability to purchase an expensive phone that has all of your wanted specs and performance. LOW BALLERS = COMPLAINERS wanting to get more out of something that was already provided at a really competitive price. compare the price the specs and the performance before you whine
and if you dont get what you want then save more and buy a phone that you really like

Hey guys. Anybody here can give me an info on how to update my zenfone 2? Am suspecting a camera bug in the system. And smetyms the phone just turns black. Especially the home screen. Only d drop down menu works. I keep restarting and shutting down the phone so dat it goes back to normal. Realy need ur help

Well, it's not my network. I used two new Sims and the Asus phone couldn't be activated here in the U.S.
I put the new Sim in my old phone and voila, activated.
I have H20 which is on the list of what Asus can connect to. I guess i'll have to return it.

I did compare it many times and the honor 4x does have a brighter and better screen color than zenfone 2's FHD screen at i did it at both 100% screen brightness.
You can do it too if you want a proof.

lol, 02 Jun 2015Guys Please Help my Zenfone 2 just shut off at 23# Battery ... moreIt's no way u can sort that. it's a manufacturing issue, the battery has an inactive cell at that point, I have the same problem but at 35-37% ..Either I'll buy an external battery charger or I'll try to see if the battery can be replaced..

However, then I found a forum where users said that turning off "optimization" in the settings of the camera, you will get a huge improvement. I did it and yes it was a huge improvement, the camera now is very good, maybe awesome for the price

Guys Please Help my Zenfone 2 just shut off at 23# Battery Life! I can't turn it on unless I plug in the charger for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes my phone will become 25% battery! and not 0 - 5%
Another thing after it reach 70% Battery it automatically jumps from 100% please help, just bought it 4 days ago.
