YOU and Gsmarena and other sites are reporting bad information. if you notice no site gives a source at Asus all they do is give a link to a phone RESELLER. You and I can be a reseller and charge any price we want for "pre orders". the buy them for the cheap price and ship them out to the fools who paid too much money for them. Asus has CONFIRMED at CES AND on their Twitter that the 5.5" 2gb 1080p 16gb variant will be $199 USD. Get a clue before you talk nonsense. The world is changing, Big Screen TV's used to cost thousands, now they cost penny's on the dollar. Same thing is happening with cell phones.

They get fools to "pre order" the phone before it goes on sale and charge a lot more for it. Then when it comes out, they buy them for cheap.. and ship them out to fools who paid a lot more then they are worth.

Those offers in aliexpress are for the 32gb vesion so 16gd vesion should be around 230$ wich is much more reasonable!

The only thing they can change is components. Flash storage. Hynix or Samsung etc and many other components except for Intel part. That's why other soc"s variant?

Then everyone must follow if they buy from Asus directly. If not they can't buy from Asus anymore but from second hand batch. Trust shops like amazon, best buy etc. Shops that buys directly! The best price is somewhere from 20-80$ sellers profit

Hard to believe people here continue to engage in self-deception after all is said and done. The $300 price tag is pretty definitive. I have told you from the beginning, no self-respecting phone maker is going to price their 1080p IPS piece of hardware for less than $300. You deluded yourselves into thinking it would cost a mere $200 while at the same time insisting that the prices were not defined, and yet you commit the same mistake of deciding the price based on what? A random interview at CES? And now you blame ASUS for your blunder...

Ok, Now let us wait till Asus releases zenfone 2 in India. Right now no body is sure what would be the real price. No point of wasting time on this topic. Let them release this first. For me if it cost more 240$ (15,000/- INR) after all taxes then its a deal breaker.

The 2GB Zenfone 2 with a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor is priced at $300, while the 4GB one with 2.3GHz processor costs $440. The first model was announced at $200, so that's a little disappointing. We have to wait other retailers to put up their pre-orders to find out if Asus changed its mind on the pricing.

I'm talking about that Asus can't change price now even if some aliexpress is selling 2gb for 299. The price is not regulated. That means that I can sell for 1000$ if I want to or some other shop. It doesn't mean anything! When Z2 will be available then the price will be at 230 with taxes and all in all. It's the same every time when new product is launching. Asus then tells companies at which price they can sell. Others are banned if they sell it for 1000$. You do understand this

It is thinking that we are fool this company not giving fight in features but it is giving good fight in price by increase the price of product . In market there were lot many companies are there so company have to give more fight in price and features by decrease price and increasing the features . So i suggest the company that to give fight against the apple, samsung, nokia companies u r not suppose to incesase price of the asus zenfone 2 . Its is by all indian opinen sir

Why you people Don't understand its a product from quality brand,
Remember when samsung enter market, they used to be called Chiness campany with low quality, now see people samsung as their first brand.
Asus had done well in small segment need time to globally brand their mobile.
