wanderer, 18 Dec 2014how to know if your asus has 2gb of ram and a 2gb cpu?? bec... moreFastest way checking the phone spec is viewing the phone package box. The processor model, speed, internal ROM and RAM size all specified there.
For checking on the phone itself, for checking ROM and RAM, go to phone setting, then tap on Apps, or Apps Manager.
On the "Downloaded" column, the shown memory space added up (Used + Free) will be the total internal memory. You will see less than 5GB memory if internal memory is 8GB. You will see less than 12GB memory if internal memory is 16GB.
After that, slide to "Running" column, the total RAM shown is the total RAM for the phone. Normally you see around 800MB++ if 1GB RAM is installed, less than 1.7GB if 2GB RAM is installed.
For knowing processor model and clock speed, simply install analytical tools (CPU-Z) or benchmark tools (Antutu, Quadrant) to check the whole phone spec, including screen resolution, RAM and ROM size.

I have realised that the phone's power consumption system/process is very unstable. With the same amount of usage, sometimes i get 4hrs of onscreen time and sometimes 3-3.5 hrs onscreen time.
Seems likee latest update has solved a few bugs and produced many others. Not daring to go for the latest one.
Asus has really screwed up the phone...
This phone is like a chevrolet cruze with a 10 litre tank..

Battery is not the best after kitkat
Batter drops from 100% at 9am to 20% at 9pm. with average usage (1 hr call + 30 min watsapp + 1 hr games)
1.) Turn off the auto update in your play store settings
2.) Off your location services
3.) have your brightness setting done manually - have it munimum and increase as and when you need - turn off auto brightness.
4.) By default you will have 12 app shortcuts in your drop down toggle - minimum is 8 and so have only frequently used 8
5.) UN-INSTALL Mcafee - crap for mobile eating up ram
6.) 360 degree is sufficient to clear ram, clean master is sufficient to clean the junk
7.) try keep your lock screen blank
8.) clear app frequently
9.) do not set alarm in repeat mode
10.) If you still see battery as bad - then do a factory reset to your mobile - your mobile will be with kitkat version but your zen ui will be outdated - do not update your zen ui.

Question I am planning to buy a brand new zenfone 5 and update it as soon as I get home till the last jellybean update. Do i have to backup my data and do a full restore? Because the phone is pretty much empty anyway.
