the problem with this phone is that it takes effort to find out what really is eating your battery, its a shame that we have to disable google services because they are not such a big deal on many other devices ..yes they drain the battery but not by a big margin, problem is these services drain more battery on this phone because of the way this phone runs it, only downside of this phone is that when it runs a service or app, then it uses a great deal of power as compared to other devices so even one service running in background is enough for battery drain...

Zenfone 5:
Overall its good deal in this price range.
Its Android OS is more user friendly:
You could type numeric and alphabets at a time without changing mode.
Search option is available for finding any application.
Touch is smooth.
Camera is very slow in capturing photos. Its major drawback.
Flash is not so effective.
Battery capacity should increase. This is common problem in all smartphones.

AnonD-327682, 05 Nov 2014How to screenshots?Without drilling into settings and enabling other ways, this is default one - simultaneously press power and volume down button and hold them until you hear a shutter sound.
You can find them in Gallery, under Screenshots folder. After taking screenshot it will also be shown in notification bar at the top. Pull down notifications and tap on it.

m not getting kitka... moreYou can manually install it - that's been beaten to death if you go a few pages back in this thread.
Else wait for the 2.20 official release for WW phones and OTA install it. We recommend doing a full factory wipe after upgrade to prevent issues with settings migrating to new OS.

Hopefully more "known to work" apps would be shared here to give users a backup to what they have when it stops working.
Google is hell bent on shutting all these permission managers off as it's hurting their spying business.

Some models of the phones no longer support it (like much of Samsungs and Motorolas) but Asus runs it fine on both JB and KK.
JellyBean actually had this software included in the Security group of apps... just can't remember whether Zenfone had it. On Kitkat it has been scrapped.

The days of Nokia 3310 that lasted a week per charge were over when 10 MHz processors were replaced with possibly faster ones than the computer you're using now is having, and screen resolutions (and with that GPU power) significantly exceeded what your computer has (unless you're using iMac 5K).
And that's the trouble. Many people compare the battery life to a non-smart phone with tiny mono screen and a dedicated couple of MHz CPU that could only handle calls and SMS.
While in reality today's smartphones are supercharged laptops, shrinked into a 4-6" package.

anyone who wants to stop google play services along with aps ops starter there is another app call disable services.apk, search on google play store.. from that app ,you can see all the services currently running and hence you can disable them
