jeff, 01 Nov 2014Very hard to remove back cover. I wish the designer of this... moreUse a guitar pick or another thin sheet of plastic to open it, then.

I'm much happier with this one, as at least it has the latch at the bottom, so you can actually open it. A couple of my other phones have none, and there it's really a major pain to remove the back.

Yet at the same time - when removing the back protective case, it pulls the darn back plate off...

Yes, that's why the back plate needs to be quite sturdy - so you don't break it every time you try to remove the protective case.

But of course, in that case, some people would complain that the plastic is not of good enough quality...

Try to use a different USB port so it forces the drivers to be reinstalled.

Mic, 01 Nov 2014Zenfone 5 model T00J with intel atom are not stable... The... moreI beg to disagree.

It was Lenovo that first experimented with Atom processor on K900, and much of the new Asus series coming out (and also from several other manufacturers) use Atom.

The A501CG and A500KL are not directly comparable. The reason the A500KL is using Snapdragon is because it supports LTE out of the box. Atom does not, which would require an additional Broadcom chip, which would deplete battery even quicker.

If Android did not support Atom CPU, you could not even boot the phone up.

Android supports Atom since 4.0, however it has not been optimised for this architecture. This means that a lot of power and cycles were missed out, where KitKat brought better optimisation for the Atom platform.

What is true, though, is that Atom executes far more commands in the same cycle than the ARM architecture, making it considerably faster (core to core) than ARM, but it is less integrated, for example using external voltage regulator, camera controller, etc. which uses more power as all these additional components burn more than if they were integrated. At the same time they also generally provide better performance.

Irate owner, 01 Nov 2014My Asus Zen 5 shuts down on its own. How many of you has ex... moreZenfone 5 model T00J with intel atom are not stable... The processor was not compatible to android os & apps because it runs @ x86. As a result the os rebut and crashes when it encounter run time error. Same with other adroid apps. The wifi connection and gps are also fulty. When running games the device got very hot and the temperature reach up to 45 dregrees Celsius.

Now asus uses snapdragon for the next generation of zenfone 5.

I wish that asus will replace the the T00J model with A500KL if a consumer will bring the device to an authorized cervive center, with minimal fee.

T00J was a hopeless device for a smart phone... It should be categorized as an essential phone with call & txt, email, and camera.

                                    dear tomazz sir,

my build number was asus_T00J_ww_2.19.40.18_20141003 on 3 oct 2014

Means I updated my phone on 3 oct 2014
Then asus removed kitkat update and re-uploaded on 8th oct 2014.
Even my kernel is updated on 3 oct 2014.
On 8 oct I only got battery fix OTA update of 13mb.

Now my version is still asus_T00J_ww_2.19.40.18_20141003 instead of asus_T00J_ww_2.19.40.18_(""20141008"")

Now I am waiting for ww_2.20.40.9.
so will it be ok if I download 2.20.40.9 from asus support site which will be approximately of 750mb insted of downloading (2.20.40.9)OTA update which will be of approximately 25-30mb.

Will 2.20.40.9(750 mb) update my kernel as well as build number.

                                    Is it ok ?

Because from now onwards all the OTA updates are not going change my build number till Android L update which is next major update , going to release in april 2015.
