AnonD-210234, 09 Oct 2014Ok i get some of your instruction, but what do you mean &qu... moreRoot of the driver is like… if you have a PC, and it has hard disk drive C: then the C:\ is root.

                C:\Windows would be folder Windows.

But root of the drive means the first thing that opens when you open that drive, not any of the folders or subfolders.

No, you don't need to "root" the phone. "rooting" of the phone means elevating your user credentials to a super user, kind of like main administrator, rather than being just a user.

This allows you to change the settings that the company has locked up and normal users can't change. It also allows software (if chosen so) to run in full administrator mode, with full access to the system, with all the good and bad parts that brings.

To manually install it, if you downloaded complete close to 800 MB file, then do this:

                      unzip file to desktop
                      plug phone into your computer
in Computer locate the phone and double click to open it
inside double click on Internal storage
place the unzipped file into the root of this drive (not into any folder)
when copying is complete, unplug the cable, wait for the notification to show up that system update is available
                      and choose to install it

Needless to say, make sure you have at least 50% battery charge before you start this.

It supports both TOOF and TOOJ, but on TOOJ if you don't do a full restore, it might not properly operate.

Personally I would ask you to use the ones from my site, if you really want KitKat rather than this file.

But… as said this will only work in some situations.

I do recommend a full restore after KitKat is installed, and then if needbe installed the battery fix.

Main problems are from the way existing settings and apps ruin the upgrade when they are kept, which can at this moment only be fixed by a full restore from recovery partition.

You have to fastboot recovery.img first before downgrading to 1.18.40.9 Otherwise you will get "getprop("ro.build.asus.sku") == 'WW'" error.

1.18.40.10 upgrades recovery to v2.19. so you have to downgrade the recovery to 1.18.40.9. Here's the process to follow :

                              1) Download the recovery from
                              http://www.mediafire.com/download/r0rslaz1wdp4y70/1.18.40.9_ww_recovery.img

                              2) type this at fastboot :
                              "fastboot flash recovery 1.18.40.9_ww_recovery.img"

3)boot to recovery and sideload 18.40.10.9

I don't see an improvement on battery as mine was very humble even in the past, but at the same time also not any other problems.

Note that I no longer use flip cover, so I don't know about that.
