Using Zenfone 5 for more than a month.. was quite good before the kitkat update except that i wasn't able to make con.call. But after kitkat update the phone's battery dries more quicker. The lock-screen wakes often without reason.

                            I think that's complete bs.

The main culprit in my case seems to be the Google Play Services, which keeps on requesting location from GPS.

AnonD-314791, 05 Oct 2014Haha. Sure. Ill buy a battery pack soon. How ironic is... moreone of things that I found turned on was under Wifi, settings, Advanced Wi-Fi - Scanning always available

This scans for networks all the time even when wifi is switched off. Turn that off.

Another thing that is burning battery is GPS - seems Google Play Services polls the GPS every couple of seconds, even when you are doing nothing with the phone, which drains battery.

Turn the Location off. Then on again, and you would be asked to give permission to Google to report your location even when no apps are using it - this burns both data and GPS - so tap on disagree.

Another thing worth trying - under Settings, Google (in accounts) tap on Ads and opt out of interest based ads, then reset advertising ID.

Finally, settings and apps installed before upgrade to KK could have effect both on battery and the stability of the system.

I do recommend, if you are facing severe issues, to do a factory restore from recovery menu, and reload the apps.

                                        Hi
I upgraded my zenfone5 to kit Kat few days back OTA and was having issues like black screen after the calls, some settings like lockscreen could not be changed etc. So I did a full factory reset (pressing power and vol up and selecting factory reset ) then 're downloaded and installed all apps again.

Now the settings lockscreen etc is fine. No black screen so far and performance has improved very much. GPS lock is quite fast and stock camera also fast.

Battery life - I am yet to come to a conclusion - but I agree with tomazz. Standby improved but working reduced.

Overall happy with zenfone5 except battery. Bought a Xiaomi 10400mAh battery bank for Rs999 to help.
