Connect the phone by a quality USB cable to your computer.
If the phone doesn't show in "Computer" or "My Computer", then open Settings on phone, tap Storage, and in top right corner tap on USB logo. In menu that opens, make sure MTP is enabled, and not Camera.
Now double click the device in your Computer, and you should see Internal Storage (there might be also SD Card, ignore that).
Double click on Internal storage to open it, then place the unzipped file into the root of the internal storage drive.
Wait for the copying to complete, then unplug the USB cable, and you should see a notification that a System Update is available.
Pull down notification and tap on the System Update, then choose to install it.
Do note that you need to have 1.18.40.10 installed before installing the KitKat update.
I am loading the full 1.18.40.10 - which you can install if you had any of the previous updates missing, so you can install KitKat with OTA after that.
It's in the same folder as all the other updates, but you can also get FOTA 1.18.40.10 in there.
I don't know why the posts are deleted. Guess someone at GSM Arena is upset with me...

i am unable to update v1.18.40.10 ww.today i download that version frm asus web site .my question is wr i paste that zip file.littele confused ,pls help ,i rooted it.i already download 4.4.2 but no use.pls pls help

Click on the Choose OS, then select Android.
Then expand Firmwares, and you will see the 2 at the top - those are the 1.18.40.10 update - which MUST be applied first over 1.18.40.9.
And the first one at the top is the KitKat, 724 MB file, which you update to after you've installed previously mentioned update.
Please check my previous posts of today and yesterday on how to install it...

FIFA no idea as I don't have it nor do I play any games on it. I do have some downloaded and they are in the moveable list, so I believe that they can be moved.
Camera looks the same to me as what it was in JB. No improvements on the eye, as snappy as before.
The firmware is around the same size as the JellyBean, and partitioning is left identical - from output.
So the space should stay the same 4.99 GB on 8 GB phone.
Note that I have some apps installed so I can not be any more precise on that.

Abhishek, 04 Oct 2014I think you will not get display but whole touchscreen and ... moreCorrect, the display, digitiser and the front glass are thermally "glued" together, so they need to be replaced as a whole package, you cannot only replace one.
Same as many other phones. This is done to bring better viewing angles and stronger colours/contrast, lower weight and thickness of the phone.
And make more money on clumsy users...

AnonD-313233, 04 Oct 2014When update kitkat 800mb will release?It is already uploaded but it will depend on who is managing the Asus site. If it is China, then it's unlikely before the end of National Day holidays.
If it is Taiwan, then it is possible it would be up very soon.
I now see a few sites with leaked full KitKat image for ZF5, although I cannot tell where they got it from or how safe it would be to use it.
If it is an untouched ZIP, it would be fine. But then, if site looks fishy, maybe hold your horses.

Then you have say folder C:\Windows. The Windows is not a root folder, but a subfolder of a root folder.
As for the procedure - it is identical in the way that you place the file in internal storage to get it installed, but from the versions, it is different.
ZenFone 4 had no issues in upgrade to KitKat hence there's no compatibility patch required before KitKat upgrade.
I just updated it for my security guard (bought the ZF4 for him a while ago) and procedure was very smooth. That said, I no longer have a ZF4 and can't comment any more on it.

I do not have any issues with it, like what others reported.
Do note that regarding the keyboard issue - I use Swype on all my phones.
APN has no issue on any of my phones, and now all 3 are upgraded to KitKat in various ways.
So from my side there are no complaints over it.

Battery is draining very quickly.I am using this from last week.Even though I have not playing games not connected internet 2G or 3G.For capturing cellular. Signal it takes lot of power.I am charging phone twice in a day fully.

Hell lot of problems after kitkat update.
1.Dialler Screen turns black after call hanging,this complain lodged with asus.
2.Today my phone battery temp went to 115 degrees F dont know why.
3.Games are lagging.
4.Battery emptying very fast.
Seems asus has messed up kitkat.
Tomazz i have done each and every update now what else can i do.
