Hi!
I want to buy a phone which is around 13k. My basic purpose is reading books, whatsapp, camera, instagram. I need a phone that lasts for 12 hours. With my usage how long would this phone's battery last? Which other phone do you recommend?

Firmware is for both TOOF (A500CG) and TOOJ (A501CG).
Make sure to download full, not OTA version of 1.18.40.10. So not 20 MB one.

also i checked updates, b... moreYes, you can, if you are using the full firmware file, not just an OTA update.
You can find the link to the full 1.18.40.10 file below. You can upgrade to it directly, and it will also allow you to do OTA upgrade to working KitKat should you wish to.

Do note that it's nearly 700 MB to download, and that you need to manually unzip it, then place it in root folder of your phone's internal memory through USB cable connection, then choose to start System Update.
Doing a System Update inside Settings - About, will download OTA version of 1.18.40.9, which may give you many problems, both in JellyBean and in KitKat.

I do not have issue 1. There is no black screen after the call and in 4 days or so there was no hang of any kind, or any error shown.
2. I don't know how many apps you have installed, but in my case it takes below 2 seconds. There are 3 GB of apps installed, some on SD, some in main memory.
3. In my case it lasts longer than it did in Jelly Bean. I did a test with identically installed phones, alas one was 16 and the other 8 GB, but else identical, one on 1.18.40.9 and the other on 2.19.40.6. The latter one lasted (on idle) good 7 hours longer.
4. No idea. Don't play games.
5. Is that during the game play? I have not noticed any difference between JB and KK on the heat emitted. Then again, I didn't do the test to compare, just didn't feel the heating.
6. And I don't have the double locking screen either.
I believe that all of your issues probably have a fairly simple explanation and that you should report them to zenui@asus.com together with screenshots or photos/videos of the issue, so they can work on a fix for you.
That said, I have none of the issues you are mentioning, on either of the ZenFone 5's, 2x A501CG and 1x A500KL.
A500KL came with KK out of the box. The A501 came both with pre 1.14 firmware, of those one was rooted, and had lots of testing done on, the other one is pretty clean, never rooted, and followed proper upgrade procedures.
Therefore I need to ask what you have done with the phone with regards to rooting and firmware updates before KitKat and how you have upgraded to it, to hopefully find a solution for your phone as well.

1.Black Screen after hang up of call,incall ui hangs.
2.App info takes more than 5 minutes to compute data detail.After computing SD card data showing zero on every app.
3.Battery life sucks after jellybean.
4.Games are lagging like subway surf & traffic driver.
5.Battery temperature higher and phone feels hot on back side.Today battery reached 49degrees celcius.
6.Double lock screen.
Rest is ok.no problem with apn.But definetly not the super duper asus phone as it was with jelly bean.

Dual-core (where u can get octa core )
Lag in UI
Some app don't support Intel chip
Dual SIM always ask data option missing
Audio speaker is not loud(u may miss ur call)
Wallpaper don't move with changing home screen
Better check other brand

Review after updating to Kitkat
1.Battery life has gone still worse.(android system is draining so much of battery which is unavoidable)
2.phone UI misbehaves a lot(light doesnt off while ur on a call-sensor sensitivity is not working)
3.system lags a bit comparing previous version.
4.No google keypad.
5.zen UI is sucking.
does any 1 face problems wat i face?
