there is an active challenge at the asus philipines facebook page that ends at september 30.the 3 finalists will win 3 zenfone 5 updated with kitkat.so only after that i think the kitkat update will be available.

Android phones are like your Windows PC. Windows itself may be OK, or may not be OK, but then the apps on top could make it start to hang or crash.
Obviously it can also be hardware problem, but the process of elimination of the issue is to wipe Android clean (make sure to backup to Gmail before you do that), then check if issues are still present in the calls.
If they are, it is either the hardware or the updates problem (likely missing updates before 1.18 - that will be resolved soon with KitKat update), if the issues go away, then it's one of your apps that causes it to act up. In that case add one by one, to see after which the issues start, and report it in PlayStore so the developers can fix the issue.

Hello,
I just bought my new asus zenfone 5.. After 3 weeks, my phone start to shutdown by itself without any reason.. It keep reboot several time. And by the time it on, I cannot unlock my screen.

We'll probably be getting KitKat for Zenfone5 very soon. Either tonight or tomorrow. My friend's cousin who worked at SanDisk and ASUS Malaysia told him. And also i emailed ASUS they said KitKat is arriving at the end of September.

Snapdragon is more integrated, more "standard" supported, but overall slightly slower.
You are not likely to see much if any difference in most tasks.

Honeyruth, 29 Sep 2014I bought my new zenfone5 phone, but when i read the manual ... moreYes, you can change the ringtone and message tones to any MP3 (or other supported audio file) stored in internal memory - in the list of the ringtones, scroll all the way to the top of the list, and choose first entry, to browse to audio file of your choice.
The audio volume was somewhat improved with the updates, but can't remember if it was 1.15 or 1.16. But if you used OTA updates to 1.18 and skipped those… that would suck.
No, you can't change to bold. But you can change the size of it - Settings -> Display -> Font Size.

In that case you could turn it off, then simultaneously press the volume down and power button to get in service mode, and volume up to confirm it.
Once that's done, choose Recovery.
And let it recover the OS from recovery partition.

Open Line. Tap on Friends. Choose one. Tap on + and choose Video Call.
Other apps could have different ways to do the same.
But 3G operator call is not supported on this phone. On the other hand the Skype and Line calls are free.

I bought my new zenfone5 phone, but when i read the manual its just all about the phone details, nothing about HELP issues.. I have some questions..
- can i change the ringtone for call and text to music? I cant hear the default tones even i set the maximum volume
- can i change my font to BOLD letters so i can read it more clearly?

This phone s good spec but very poor build quality as it s made of very soft toy quality plastic which will cause u cry and damaged look within a year or two.if company covers its main body damage by regular use its worth to purchase.really u can press its side body by ur nail and see the cut mark permanently.cheap due to use of low quality full plastic body.
