This device meets the EU requirements (1999/519/EC) on the limitation of exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields by way of health protection.
The limits are part of extensive recommendations for the protection of the general public. These recommendations have been developed and checked by independent scientific organizations through regular and thorough evaluations of scientific studies. The unit of measurement for the European Council’s recommended limit for mobile devices is the “Specific Absorption Rate” (SAR), and the SAR limit is 2.0 W/Kg averaged over 10 gram of body tissue. It meets the requirements of the International Commission on Non- Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP).
For next-to-body operation, this device has been tested and meets the ICNRP exposure guidelines and the European Standard EN 62311 and EN 62209-2. SAR is measured with the device directly contacted to the body while transmitting at the highest certified output power level in all frequency bands of the mobile device.
The highest CE SAR value for the device is 0.530 W/Kg.

bought a zenfone 5 A501CG & returned it after 1day. eat battery too much, too mych weight. camera seems to be a 2mp camera. ASUS needs to study more before releasing zenfone. hope kitkat will solve this. before buying i liked zenfone very much but after using 1day i changed & take a xperia m2 dual & i realize sony know how to make a smartphone.

Rumours go that it's coming out next month.
Obviously, that won't be a small incremental update but something over 1 GB in size. And yes, that'll be sent via OTA…
If you're seeing some update being downloaded for ages - that's what it is.

Specifications in this rate awsum.. But i dont think phone looks cool when u r show it off :p
Its not much stylish type. Phone front upper side and backside makes it to look like cheap Chinese tab.:p

Absolutely not.
Compared to some other phones, the volume is still low.
But it is much higher than what it used to be, and that change came in 1.16 firmware, if I am not mistaken.
There is obviously a hardware limitation on how high the volume can go, based on the amplifier and speaker actually used.
I am not sure whether this is amplifier or the speaker issue, or both, but the phone distorts in 1 kHz area, right around the dialing tone, and that's quite a bad distortion. To a point it happens on the top speaker as well, but not as badly as the lower speaker.
So - a "fix" has improved things, but didn't make them perfect. The sound quality is average for a smart phone, which (with very rare exception) in general suck in this area anyway.
Therefore do not expect a Nokia or Sharp (non-smart phone) sound quality of calls. What you would get is comparable to many other budget and mid-range smartphones.
Meaning - it's "OK" for the calls, it's "OK" for speakerphone, when you're in relatively quiet room. But don't expect it to replace a conference phone.

i love the phone. but the thing is whenever i received an sms it vibrates . even if i already turned off the vibrate mode. :(

The apps/widgets screen is black anyway.
And for the SMS/Calls/etc. you cannot change the backgrounds inside apps.

Using this phone from last 1 week. SAR value is 2.0W/KG which is very high. Feeling pain in both the ears from last 7 days only. Every one is just checking the features not the side effects of SAR value.This is too high. SAR value which is mentioned on website is not correct. on the box it is 2.0W/kG.
