AnonD-292829, 27 Aug 2014It is hosted in the website fota.asus.com/....Sorry, I did not realise you got it from there.

I thought you got it from the Asus Support downloads site.

Anyway, I've loaded full files for you, and I tried to install only these files in my tests, I did not use any files from fota.

Please wait for next firmware to be released as a full firmware file, and update to that. It should include all previous fixes.

      Thank you.

AnonD-291211, 27 Aug 2014When you update from your phone through fota, you will get ... moreThat I know, but the file usually gets deleted after update, so I guess the gentleman copied it out of the phone before installing it.

Actually, without rooting, without installing anything… wait for 1.18 firmware, due out soon, download it from Asus.com (I'll also put it on my server when I notice it), and install that - the full 700 MB file. And it should get it completely updated, then it won't matter what firmware was installed earlier or what was missing as whole OS is getting reinstalled.

AnonD-291211, 27 Aug 20146-7 hours if you use only 3g continuous use. Other wise it'... moreI assume you mean that you are actively using the phone on 3G for 6-7 hours.

As both my SIMs are 3G (although internet is chosen from SIM 1), and when using them a few hours a day, the battery lasts me 2 days.

That's including sync to 3 email accounts, Line, FB, WhatsApp, and sometimes forgetting to logout from Skype… so it stays on. Power setting is on default. Screen is on default.

I use it for reading news, emails, talk on Line usually, making calls, taking photos and sending them via Line, uploading stuff to FB and reading the updates.

I'd say 3-4 hours a day for battery to last from 7 am on day 1 to 10 pm of the next day with 10-30% remaining.

Rahul, 27 Aug 2014Are you sure...??? i mean u are using this phone....?????be... more6-7 hours if you use only 3g continuous use. Other wise it's lot better. Use 2g only data for getting notification for mail, facebook, whatsapp, etc and change to 3G when you really need a faster connection if you are on mobile data. This way your battery will last more than a day(24 hours). If you are a heavy user then keep a power bank with you which is same for all smartphones. For me battery back up is fine.

People, don't ask about battery again, It's a history now.

It is 5990 THB for (any colour that's available) Zenfone 5, 16 GB, 2 GB RAM, 3G, Dual SIM, WW version.

I don't know how safe it is shipping it to you… greedy customs or post officers, possibly on both sides, else I'd ship it to you.

You can always check the prices from jaymart.co.th. Fortunetown branch usually has the biggest stock.

Anand, 27 Aug 2014Pls help me whether to buy zenfone5 or motog and which one ... moreCompare both phones specification, and looks. Then take a decision whether you want a smaller size or Bigger size. If you are a user of stock android then you will experience nice change in Zenfone 5 compared to boring stock android of Moto G. Thats all i can say. Choice is always yours.

                                Just another statistic.

Made 2x 1 hour call (exactly 60 minutes each), and battery went from 70% to 59%.

This would indicate 1% per 10 min.

SIM used was TrueMove-H 3G+, but I do not know whether it uses 850 MHz or 2100 MHz as it's not stated anywhere for this particular transmitter.

Signal was full, I am 10m from the tower.

Gold doesn't mean it's 100% golden in color but it's very light golden color. With this if you use a original pudini metallic back cover then it adds beauty further. Every week or 10 days they making it available on flipkart and used to go out of stock before very next day. Last week they placed 20,000/- handsets. So may be next week they again bring it on stock, But you have order that day, If you delay same thing will happen. Don't go for zenfone 4 4.5". Zenfone 5 or 6 is best.

You are right, OTG, the ability to plug USB stick in the port at the bottom was indeed not included from the beginning, but only after an update.

Asus is actually very good in releasing the updates, although they are a big download, but at least they resolve issues quickly.

A note for others - I have loaded all the firmwares (1.14, 1.16.7, 1.16.40 and 1.17.40) to my server for anyone to download if they have trouble getting files from Asus site. Those are files downloaded from Asus, and in no way modified.

                                    The link is http://www.mega-networks.asia/ZenFone/ZenFone5_WW_Firmware/

The rooting tools and USB driver are the ZIP files in parent folder.

Note all firmware files are for WW phones, NOT FOR CN, CHT, TW, etc. Please check your phone version.
