hshsh, 24 Aug 2014Why the touch panel dont have a light???Ah yes, the biggest shortcoming of this phone… the 3 sensors at the bottom not illuminated.

Unfortunately nothing you can do about it.

AnonD-296391, 24 Aug 2014when did you buy your Asus Zenfone 5? can you post your pr... moreIt's a few months old… not sure exactly when I bought it.

I can show the chart to you now, but it's off the charger for 7-8 hours and at 82% battery life.

I've placed it (along with the screenshot of Speedtest - as there are people complaining here that it can only do a few kbps internet speeds) on this link:

      www.mega-networks.asia/ZenFone/

The ones that start with Screenshot… The ones that were previously posted to the same link, after a day and after 2 days, are a month old or so… and have nicer names :)

AnonD-296391, 24 Aug 2014@Tomazz can you explain what happens to the battery if w... moreSome people claim that this will improve the longevity and capacity of the battery, so it's usually recommended by the sellers of everything with rechargeable batteries inside.

Now if the phone has Li-Ion battery, the charge/discharge should make no difference whatsoever, but Ni-MH batteries need to be "exercised" for the best performance, meaning being charged full and discharged full, although they officially have no "memory effect".

But you may have seen Ni-MH batteries in a laptop that was always plugged in the wall-socket, that had battery capacity drop from 100% to 0% in a few minutes, and could no longer be charged.

NiCd batteries before these had a pathetic memory effect but are luckily no longer used more or less anywhere.

So - it's a recommendation, and some say that it will improve and extend battery life.

On Samsung and Oppo I didn't bother, as if battery dies on me I just buy another; but I did it on Asus, HTC, Apple and Sony as they have non-removable battery.

I didn't bother checking what type of battery Asus is using.

Here's a part from "How to maintain Lithium Battery":

It's not necessary to charge over 12 hours when first used. When a device powered by batteries is purchased, sellers will usually tell us the batteries must first be charged 12 hours before using. Actually, this is unnecessary. Unlike common Ni-CD or Ni-MH batteries, most lithium ion batteries have been activated before leaving the factory. Due to its low self-discharge, it’s unnecessary to charge lithium ion battery for such a long time when new. Lithium ion batteries are ready for use after the charger indicates so, and it will reach its best capacity after 3 or 5 cycles.

AnonD-297788, 24 Aug 2014Hi Tomazz, I just recently bought ASUS Zenfone 5 - 8GB var... moreThat's about how mine acts when I am in a bright place, with screen brightness set to auto - in that case it turns on the light, and burns battery quicker.

It does get warm just under the camera when there's something CPU intensive loaded.

Note that JellyBean has no optimisation for the Atom CPUs, so it is expected to get longer battery life and better performance once KitKat is available for it.

You can consider the freeware apps that manage the power better than stock power mode of Asus.

Nakul Bhardwaj, 25 Aug 2014Hi all, I have purchased Zenphone 5 befor two days but t... moreFirst try with Firmware update. Battery and overall performance has improved in the latest update. And you can also cross check with your phone setting like wifi, Screen brightness, GPS. Switch off wifi and GPS when not in use.
And Zenfone also comes with its own Power Saver app. Go to Power saver - SWITCH ON YOUR SMART SAVING and use "Ultra-saving mode" for long battery back up.

I am also facing same issue when i was start to use this Phone. But now my phone is giving good battery backup even it's better than my old smartphone - MOTOG.
My ZF5 is giving me more than 18 hrs with mix use like wifi, 3G, Social networking apps, Camera, FM and little bit games.
I am very happy with this phones.

I Hope after that setting your battery performance will improve.

The difference in price is about 30$.

I recommend you to take the one with 2 GB RAM as those are the newer models; all the phones produced in last 3 months are with 2 GB RAM, all produced in last month are 16 GB.

hi all, I bought 2 units of zenfone 5 abt 3 week back. One of them often reset. while ur in a call, it suddenly resets. it happens so often that I have to sent it for repair. anyone else experience the same problem?

also, on the other unit, almost 50% of the time, i cannot hear caller ringback tone. it means, when I call someone, i dont hear the tooot, tooot sound which tells me my call is through and the phone on the other site is ringing.

does anyone else face the same problem? was there any good workaround or solution like settings or something

                                  thank you
