I like zenfone 5 i have experience lots of phones from samsung s5, nexus 5, htc one x, iphone 5s and sony z3... but zenfone 5 can compete to those high end phones from gaming, surfing, taking pictures with high resolution and multi tasking... of all the phone I had experience with only these phone I can say my money was not a waste...

In continuation of the LED notification issue some of the things I realized that,if you are installing the whole package of 1.16.40.50(not the update from 1.16.40.7) ,I see the LED’s working are more stable.,
However for SMS,if we disable stock SMS application and rely on application like GoSMS,then LEDwon’t blink.
For sure, the stock SMS has to be enabled(All these while in I was able to use only Go SMS alone )
Another positive note I see is the Bluetooth becoming more stable.I used to enable Bluetooth when a call comes or I dial a number(Using Tasker application). So more of the time I was getting “Bluetooth Share has force closed”.Now looks like that is gone.
Overall l,A sus is certainly moving in a positive direction …..

Guys can you comment on the battery life WITH THE LATEST firmware from asus? Specifcly the one that "fixes" the battery drain.

On the latest firmware how much screen time can you get with(out) 3G and with moderate usage (sms+web+some app)? And overall time will it last at least 24hours with moderate usage?

AnonD-292310, 08 Aug 2014got it on july 29 to replace my stolen lenovo p780. DISASTR... moreHmm... a while back I've posted the actual photos taken with this phone in all kinds of lighting conditions, and unless you're expecting Oppo Find7 or Samsung Galaxy S5 photo quality, it is perfectly acceptable, alas a bit oversaturated on HDR photos.

You might have gotten a lemon, but 4 hours battery life sounds way off. I generally get 1-2 days out of it, and I've even posted the battery usage graphs.

Yes, the CPU at the top of the battery, just below the camera, can get warm when you're doing something CPU intensive. It's Intel, not ARM afterall.

Since I've had no issues with the phone I also cannot comment on the service quality, although Asus service centre here in Thailand is generally very good.

So I am sorry to hear about your bad experiences with the phone. It might be down to expectations as well.

Therefore to those considering this phone: This is not a top end phone like Oppo Find7, Sony XPeria Z2, Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G3, or Apple iPhone 5S.

It is a budget phone, as reflected by its price.

For what it costs, it has a decent IPS HD screen, reasonable battery life (although not removable), dual SIM support, ability to plug in up to 64 GB microSD card to use for photos, music, movies and apps (those that support being ran from SD), reasonable sound quality (last update fixed quiet speaker), and a snappy processor with 2 GB RAM which makes experience equivalent to a quad core ARM processor of about same speed.

It has a very decent 8 megapixel back camera and mediocre front camera, with some excellent shooting modes not found from other brands. It certainly produces better photos than many brandnamed mid-range phones that cost twice as much. Video camera is good for FullHD videos, but terrible for HD and SD videos. That must be some kind of software scaling disaster at play.

That's what you're getting if you go for it.

If you need SLR quality photos, octa core CPU, 4K screen, or a 1 week battery life - look somewhere else.

And if you want illuminated sensor buttons below the screen, which is really my biggest complaint over this phone, get something else too. You can't fix missing lights with firmware update...

It is a great product for the price. It is not a

I am also surprised that you had no issues with the LED notification light after the updates, as .14 and .15 certainly broke it. Also, there was no way to turn the notification light on or off without a widget from competitor.

Anyway, it's back to working now, although different from before. And since Motorola widget can only turn it on an off, it's always blinking in orange...
