Overall, used for 2 years, side by side with Pocophone F1, I have no complain on this ASUS Zenfone 5z.
For me, this is one of the rare smartphone in my country.
Same as Pocophone F1, this smartphone belongs to the budget flagship Android smartphone of it's time.
For me, both are good smartphone that still works and receive latest updates.
Please don't compare which smartphone is better than this smartphone, there is no fair comparison.

Anonymous, 20 Jul 2020From where will you get z6 in 18999? Give me the address or... moreI think at the time of writing, that Z6 Pro left only one unit, then gone. Normal price now is around 25k. But that is ok, Z6 Pro global version only can reach Android 9.0, no NFC.
Yes, this Zenfone 5z actually doesn't cause much problem to me, now almost reach 2 years of usage, performance is still stellar. It is my daily driver, I got no complain, as I know what it can do and what it cannot do. It is not the best smartphone at the time of first launching, but it is what it is, a budget flagship Android smartphone at half price of premium flagship. I get what I am paying for, and I am happy with it.
I might lucky I get a unit without WiFi and signal issue, no serious battery drain issue, still respectable battery life for 1 day of usage on my style.

At my country, with this price, can get 8GB/256GB version.
Also at around this price, can choose Honor View 20, which still has Google Playstore, and Lenovo Z6 Pro, which lack of NFC. Then at lower price, there are Xiaomi Mi8 and Mi Mix 2S, which has wireless charging. Depend what you are looking for, it is worth buying if you know what you want.

Is 6GB/128 GB worth buying at 18999 in 2020?

AnoM, 26 Jun 2020These technology are called file sharing, or media streamin... moreI have to disagree with you on one point I dropped my phone in the dunny bowl and I mean fully submerged and I just pulled it out and that was months ago no damage at all. I put the phone in a tub of uncooked rice when I got home, about an hour later, but I don't think I really had to because as I said it just worked. Great phone best phone I've had to date and at 61 years old I have had a lot of phones

I don't know why some people are having trouble with the battery after the 10 update mine lasts just as long as it did on 8 and 9 .how old is your battery? I ask because I have only had this phone for 4 or 5 months if you have had the phone since they were released in 2018 then you may need a new battery

Pocky, 02 Jul 2020hi, does anybody notice battery draining so fast on android... moreAbsolutely brother! The battery performance has been worst after the android 10 update. The battery performance was good when the device was operating on android 9 pie. Need to charge twice in a day hardly get 4hours of screen on time on normal usage. Badly need an update regarding the battery issue

Pocky, 02 Jul 2020hi, does anybody notice battery draining so fast on android... moreYes, I also notice that with my 5z. I normally use it to cast video to chromecast by Youtube, chrome browser (online live streaming channel), Web Video Caster app, Poweramp music casting, occasionally playing Asphalt 9 (default graphic setting), most of the time FB, online shopping. I don't think I am a heavy user but when casting, I also used my 5z hotspot for my chromecast to be link onto the internet while in the car.

Alan Sykes, 24 Jun 2020I know there are those who like & dislike of this phone... moreThese technology are called file sharing, or media streaming, DLNA, Upnp, which is a software thing, and can be done on any smartphone, computer, TV, Blu Ray player, TV Box that can support it, by installing a proper apps or software, or built in support.
I would say this ASUS smartphone is a rare breed that is actually function more like a flagship than a midrange smartphone, but sold at midrange price.
I know, it doesn't has AMOLED screen, doesn't has wireless charging, no water resistant, no flagship grade camera quality, not a true flagship.
But, I'm ok with it, it retain a Micro SD slot, which I now using with a 128GB Kingston brand Micro SD, a 3.5mm jack, also has radio function, stereo speaker.
The UI itself also is keep maintained until the latest Android 10 with new ZenUI, and is blazing fast even near to 2 years of usage.
It works very well for me everyday and I really can't complain.

I know there are those who like & dislike of this phone. As for me, I have no complaints, unless future updates might disrupts the OS or built-in Apps.

I do hope to those that dislike this phone please move on, do proper research before buying any particular brands. Just do take note, no phone manufacturer will release a "perfect future proof" smartphone.

Anyway, I just want to share something that perhaps those that used ASUS smartphones. To those that use the phone as an entertainment unit (chrome-casting, watching downloaded videos, etc) & personal file storage (PDFs, Word, Excel, PP, photos). When at home, do you guys/gals connect your phone to your home wifi? if yes, open the built-in file manager app & click the 3 line at the top left? You will notice there is a section called: Network Place. Before I go on, do you have ever plug in your external drive onto your home router? if yes, you can access the external drive from the File Manager; Network Place section. where you can copy & past anything (apps, videos, mp3, documents). If you use VLC or KMPlayer, these app can access the network & you can watch videos from your external drive which is plug into your home router, without downloading those files onto your phone memory or your phone SD card. Saving memory space.

I know once I post this, there will be people who reply with sarcastic remarks. Please just keep it to yourself if you have nothing nice to say. I am here to share not to hate.

The best phone I have used to date. Its two years since I got it and it has worked flawlessly (touch wood) with all upgrades coming in time. All it cost me was about Rs.21,000. Many times recently I have thought about upgrading to a higher processor, but am yet to act on it. Not very keen to buy Chinese made stuff. I am waiting for Asus 7 / ROG III. Will upgrade if I find the reviews ok.

There are review mentioning about this, where the lowest brightness is still pretty bright, not the dimmest.

I am a firm belivere that this phone is best in its class at the time i bought it. Coupled with a fast processor flaw less design and preety decent battery backup. I have faced the issue of network when updated last time to the latest update in April 2020. Due to lockown I have to manage with another phone as no company/local service shop was open. i even set the phone to factory reset, but it didnot worked
And one fine day another update came it took time to update but the phone is working normally. No wifi issue as reported by other users. All hard core gaming apps also wokring fine.

Piece of crap. Bought in Aug 2018, in July 2019 cellular and wifi wouldn't connect at all. Sent to Asus repair, they reported nothing wrong, cleaned internals. Interesting that the call recording feature wasn't when it was sent in for repair but when returned it was. Hard to believe they didn't do anything. Jun 2020 same thing after a reboot, cellular/wifi won't connect. Search before you decide to purchase this as this issue is very well documented and Asus has done nothing in 2 years to fix it let alone admit to any issue.
