I have no idea why, but a couple of days ago my 5Z just DIED out of nowhere. I didn't drop it or move it, but now it keeps Boot-looping. WHen it DOES turn on (occasionally), it has huge connection issues with the sim, mobile data and wifi. Does anyone else have it? I was super happy with the phone until last friday :(

Zenfone 5z user, 31 Jul 2020a properly built phone should never overheat nor restart du... moreYou are the one that try making the misleading wrong excuse.
Try some heavy games such as Call Of Duty after some long period, you will understand what overheat means.
Oh yes, Samsung Note 9 has better cooling system, that is also an unfair comparison.
Go try some Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and see.
All in all, don't compare Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and this ASUS Zenfone 5z, both has far different build despite having the same SD845. As far as per the statement I say, SD845 smartphone are already far cooler than before. It is not because of the Android OS, it is really because of the far better SoC SD845 that help keep temperature down, and also more power saving than before. I have use before smartphone with SD650, SD821, SD800, SD801, SD600, SD660, SD615, MTK6795 Helio X10, Intel Atom 3560, Exynos 5420, Exynos 5410, I am far more understand what overheating is all about.

And stop making excuses like sdm 845 is old and unoptimised as im using samsung note 9 with sdm 845 and dont have any heating issues whatsoever.

Alan Sykes, 29 Jul 2020The battery has improved significantly since this latest up... moreAs a 2 years user since it is launched at my country, I would say this smartphone never overheat on normal usage. It will heat up while fast charging, and also while heavy gaming.
I would say the turn off or auto shutdown is due to heavy gaming, or heavy gaming while fast charging. There are many new games out there that doesn't optimized properly with SD845 since this is already an old processor from 2 years ago.

The battery has improved significantly since this latest update.
Haven't had any issues just yet.
Haven't played graphic intense game yet after the latest update, to acknowledge any forced shutdown if slight increased in processor temperature during gaming.

Overall, used for 2 years, side by side with Pocophone F1, I have no complain on this ASUS Zenfone 5z.
For me, this is one of the rare smartphone in my country.
Same as Pocophone F1, this smartphone belongs to the budget flagship Android smartphone of it's time.
For me, both are good smartphone that still works and receive latest updates.
Please don't compare which smartphone is better than this smartphone, there is no fair comparison.

Anonymous, 20 Jul 2020From where will you get z6 in 18999? Give me the address or... moreI think at the time of writing, that Z6 Pro left only one unit, then gone. Normal price now is around 25k. But that is ok, Z6 Pro global version only can reach Android 9.0, no NFC.
Yes, this Zenfone 5z actually doesn't cause much problem to me, now almost reach 2 years of usage, performance is still stellar. It is my daily driver, I got no complain, as I know what it can do and what it cannot do. It is not the best smartphone at the time of first launching, but it is what it is, a budget flagship Android smartphone at half price of premium flagship. I get what I am paying for, and I am happy with it.
I might lucky I get a unit without WiFi and signal issue, no serious battery drain issue, still respectable battery life for 1 day of usage on my style.

At my country, with this price, can get 8GB/256GB version.
Also at around this price, can choose Honor View 20, which still has Google Playstore, and Lenovo Z6 Pro, which lack of NFC. Then at lower price, there are Xiaomi Mi8 and Mi Mix 2S, which has wireless charging. Depend what you are looking for, it is worth buying if you know what you want.

AnoM, 26 Jun 2020These technology are called file sharing, or media streamin... moreI have to disagree with you on one point I dropped my phone in the dunny bowl and I mean fully submerged and I just pulled it out and that was months ago no damage at all. I put the phone in a tub of uncooked rice when I got home, about an hour later, but I don't think I really had to because as I said it just worked. Great phone best phone I've had to date and at 61 years old I have had a lot of phones

I don't know why some people are having trouble with the battery after the 10 update mine lasts just as long as it did on 8 and 9 .how old is your battery? I ask because I have only had this phone for 4 or 5 months if you have had the phone since they were released in 2018 then you may need a new battery

Pocky, 02 Jul 2020hi, does anybody notice battery draining so fast on android... moreAbsolutely brother! The battery performance has been worst after the android 10 update. The battery performance was good when the device was operating on android 9 pie. Need to charge twice in a day hardly get 4hours of screen on time on normal usage. Badly need an update regarding the battery issue

Pocky, 02 Jul 2020hi, does anybody notice battery draining so fast on android... moreYes, I also notice that with my 5z. I normally use it to cast video to chromecast by Youtube, chrome browser (online live streaming channel), Web Video Caster app, Poweramp music casting, occasionally playing Asphalt 9 (default graphic setting), most of the time FB, online shopping. I don't think I am a heavy user but when casting, I also used my 5z hotspot for my chromecast to be link onto the internet while in the car.
