Anonymous, 25 May 2021Like a swan that's had its wings cruelly clipped, this... moreI have this phone so here are your answers:

            1. With the 128GB version, there's about 110GB left after all the updates. Really needs expandable memory as camera pictures and videos quickly fill the space. Sure, you can upload to the cloud but it takes time and uses data if not connected to wifi. Also, with the flagship CPU, you'll be playing games which take up sapce. Don't bother with 128GB version if you're a gamer (I don't play games on it).

            2. Fingerprint scanner is patchy with 50% success rate like most other optical under screen scanners. Nowhere near as good as Xperia side scanner or Motorola or Huawei rear scanners. I've switched mine off and use a PIN. Haven't tried face unlock.

            3. It's pretty much stock Google but you can replace with whatever you want (can't uninstall Google all apps though). It's all fast and fluid but everything is Google.

            4. Battery life is not as good as it could be. Getting roughly 4.5 hours SOT which is no better than my old Galaxy S8. Manages to last a day with normal (light) use otherwise needs a recharge by evening. Don't play games on it or have spcial media but imagine it'll be much worse if you're a heavy user. Wish it had a more energy efficient CPU.

            5. Had quite a few updates already. So far, so good.

            6. Nice small compact phone. Difference between this and Xperia 10 II (which I also had - sold it to buy this) is very little when holding in hand. Not many compact phones about so if you're used to a larger phone, this'll feel compact.

            7. Got mine set at the default 60Hz and don't notice any difference putting it to 120Hz. Probably useful for games only as not even any 120Hz video content available.

            8. LED light is nice and bright but could be in a better place. If phone is flat on the table facing away, you can't see it for notifications. Same if it's in a car cradle dock.Really only visible at the correct angle and line of sight.

Am I pleased with it? Yes

            Could it be better? Yes

            - battery life not so good
            - great camera but it fills the storage quickly, especially high res videos - def needs memory card slot
            - fingerprint scanner is average

regs, 01 Jun 2021Yeah, there are tones of devices with those cameras. There have been mixed-to-positive reviews on the cameras, but I've liked many of the sample shots I've seen, whilst acknowledging certain flaws (edge softening, particularly on foliage, and the like). Generally, the shots look clear and detailed, and you can always install a GCam mod if you think stock processing's not up to snuff, so I'm not too worried.

Looking forward to testing the camera when mine arrives tomorrow.

It's... moreIf only thing you want are better cameras, then I don't think Asus will provide you with something significantly better, from what I've heard, huawei has pretty decent cameras on their flagship devices (and mate 20 was a flagship iirc), so probably the only noticeable thing would be the speed of taking photos (idk how fast is yours phone camera, but older phones sometimes lack that).

Btw i had now more research and saw that nextradio app is enabling fm chips in snapdr chipsets till android 10, from android 11 not working, as nextradio wasn't much updated. Another research is that rog phones 1 and 2 have custome asus fm radio(there are even yt videos where people rec using fm radio app on rog phones) and they ditched radio on all next phones to rog phones 5 sadly

Dominique, 01 Jun 2021How's the camera performance and the photo quality? I ... moreHey! Unfortunately, can't say a lot about photo and video quality, don't have anything else really with which I could compare it, and don't really shoot photos or videos in general. From the few photos I already took (some documents, or stuff I wanted to share with friends, where quality is not really needed) - looks alright, works fast, but well, you wouldn't expect less from a flagship device.
Document mode is nice inclusion in the default camera app, previously I used some additional software like office lens (which, to be fair, also tried to convert it to actual word document, which could be useful sometimes).
