Anonymous, 19 May 2021It needs to have a 10,000mAh battery, wireless charging, re... moreYeah 10000 mAp battery would be exaggerating but a 4500 or 5000 mAp would be nice but the phone size is pretty small so 4500 should do, 4K display isn't really needed, it'd be an over kill and it'd consume much more battery besides the phone already has a super amoled display but i do wish it comes with a resolution larger then 2400 Either ways there's no perfect smartphone, and it doesn't really need a wireless and reverse charging ,all i could hope for is for the phone to come at a 66w charging instead of 33 coz i do heavy mobo gaming and waiting for a 80 min for full charge is kinda long

Anonymous, 25 May 2021Like a swan that's had its wings cruelly clipped, this... moreunnecessarily biased opinion. there is no perfect phone. just try to find 'the perfect one' that meet your need, or, if you can, make it by yourself. I do agree with some point like microSD storage, but it's not something that can make other good things useless. I use both Android and iPhone. I'm using iCloud as my storage backup with $1/month subscription (50GB) and that's enough. my android phone need at least 128 GB to meet my storage need.

MRDA, 26 May 2021One more question: What's the haptic feedback like?Actually, it's great, very nice feeling. Usually I just turn off any vibration on new device, but on this, I actually enjoy it. It is similar to haptics in iPhone, but in Asus it's a bit more defined, or distinctive I'd say, while iPhone's is more subtle, though wouldn't say one is necessarily better than the other, they are just different (personally, I like the distinctiveness of Asus' a bit more).
Also, I didn't answer in the previous message about AOD, I've turned it on, and it's always on (didn't set it up to turn off on timer, or in some time window, I mean).

Anonymous, 25 May 2021Like a swan that's had its wings cruelly clipped, this... moreSo you basically don't like it because it doesn't suit your needs. Pretty much useless your comment. If you need a microsd and a budget friendly SoC with a capacitive fps why not just gonfor all the other brands? Geez, it's like slagging off a bike because it's not a horse.

Like a swan that's had its wings cruelly clipped, this could have been so much better.
1. No expandable memory. Epic fail. I don't care how much onboard storage there is. Deal breaker right there.
2. Who wants a mediocre optical fingerprint scanner? Should have had capacitive on the side or back.
3. Stock Android and Google apps are awful. Google knows absolutely nothing about good design and GUI.
4. Don't want or need flagship SOC. A mid-tier device with lower price would shift more units. Added bonus of better battery life.
5. Asus has a terrible reputation for Android updates. Don't expect any support beyond 2 major updates or 2 years, whichever comes earlier (I speak as a former Asus Zenfone and Zenpad user. Never again).
6. All things considered, this is not really compact like the old compact devices. The new Xperia 5 and 10 mark III are both narrower.
7. 120Hz display another useless piece of tech to and unneccessarily inflate the price.
8. A notification LED in the stupidest place where you can seldom see it. Why?

Anonymous, 21 May 2021This is to GSMArena, not Asus. You know this, right?Taken into account the millions companies pour into marked research and feedback, would be pretty foolish from their part to ignore and not keep an eye on such a goldmine of free customer feed back. Pretty sure that one bot that parses comments does not cost that much.

MRDA, 25 May 2021Glad to see someone commenting on the sound and volume qual... more1. LG had the "HiFi" switch, which can manually be turned on by user, and in On mode I assume it turns on an amp for the higher Ohm headphones (since with Off it has actually similar volume to Asus, and also less volume control), Asus doesn't have anything similar, only the AudioWizard app, with EQ and that's all really. Also, just tried out some of my FLACs (previous comment was after trying it with Spotify), and I'd say it sounds good enough for a phone audio (comparable in quality to LG I'd say), even when increasing the preamp value in something like AIMP. And blocking out noise - in closed headphones with leather cushions (Cloud Cores or also, tried my friends AudioTechnika M50x) it's good, didn't try with earphones though (don't have 'em).
2. Fingerprint is hit or miss, sometimes it's really fast, sometimes it doesn't recognize me at all, I can only assume it'll "learn" to recognize better overtime. In general, if I press a bit more harder, and finger is more flat on the screen, it's okay. LG's scanner was better, obviously, but almost any fingerprint scanner is better than the face scanner on iPhone imo.
3. I use default (auto) mode, and it's good, didn't notice any stutters or weird behaviors yet. In other modes, well, it's according to spec I'd say. Side-by-side with iPhone and LG, can't say animation is any more sluggish than them, in 60hz, but it is really noticeable if you switch from 120 to 60, because well, that's how it works.
4. I'd say the heaviest apps I use daily is probably YouTube and Browser (I don't play games on phone, if you're curious), a couple of hours per day for both, also I don't really use phone oftenly, cause work from home, I have all I need on PC, so yeah. And did not do any kind of stress test for it too. And, in regards in day-to-day usage, I've set the limiter to 90% charge, and charge the phone before going to sleep (so it isn't charging all night), and longest result so far - 90% to 9% of charge after 24 hours, with 4.5 hours of screen-on time (info from AccuBattery). Also I use it in Dynamic performance mode (so also default). So if you're not a freak like me, it should last long enough I think, and there might be further software updates that'll optimize battery even more (from some sources I heard that similar case was with zenfone 6).
5. Nothing to say about call quality yet since haven't had a call yet.
6. Same as previous, did not do any photos yet, so can't say anything.

ReptVlad, 21 May 2021Hey, got mine yesterday, been using for the whole day alrea... moreGlad to see someone commenting on the sound and volume quality of the jack. None of the reviews I've read have addressed that. Is the sound immersively loud at 70%+, i.e., does it block out noise in a busy/crowded location?
Also, I've heard mixed reviews about the fingerprint sensor's responsiveness; how quickly does it unlock for you?
Which refresh-rate modes do you use it on, and is the UI responsiveness good in those modes? I saw a particularly damning review that said things were rather sluggish in all but the highest refresh setting (120hz).
Regarding battery, what apps/functions do you usually use on your phone, do you switch off the AOD, and how much battery life do you have after a day of standard use?
Is the call quality up to scratch? Can people hear you and you them?
Finally, how fares the picture-processing quality on the front and back cams?

Kedar284, 23 May 2021Why not wait for US release, they'll add it there defi... moreIt doesn't look like that's the case. Even on the US version of Asus' site, if you check the official Zenfone 8 page, it doesn't list band 13. It lists two different versions of the phone, but neither supports that band. If it did, I wouldn't be complaining.

Lumo444, 22 May 2021What is the camera compared to iPhone 12, and the battery?Honestly, never made any photos with iPhone (and doubt I'll take any with Asus too, or at least the ones where camera quality will matter) so can't say anything about that, and battery life, well, from first impressions, Asus lives longer, but can't say for sure.
