Asus Zenfone 9 leaked by Norwegian retailer: specs, images and prices
The Asus Zenfone 9 will be unveiled at a global event on July 28 (Thursday) and it seems that it will go on pre-order immediately. We say that because Norwegian site Elkjøp already lists the device, complete with images, a spec sheet and even pricing.
Keep in mind that this page may not be ready for publishing – because it’s not supposed to be published yet – so it may contain some inaccurate details. But here is what the Zenfone 9 is supposedly like.
It will be relatively small by today’s standards, but not all that small. It measures 146.6 x 68.2 x 9.45mm and weighing 165g, fractionally smaller than the Zenfone 8. For comparison, the same numbers for the Galaxy S22 read 146 x 70.6 x 7.6mm and 167g.
The phone will be equipped with 5.92” AMOLED display (Samsung made) with 1,080 x 2,400px resolution (20:9) and 120Hz refresh rate. It will be guarded by Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone itself will have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The front camera will use a 12MP Sony IMX663 with dual PDAF.
On the back there will be two cameras. The main module has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor (1/1.56”, 1.0µm pixels) with “6-axis gimbal stabilization” (machine translated, could be wrong). This camera can record 8K video. Also on the back is the 12MP ultra wide camera with an IMX368 sensor.
The Asus Zenfone 9 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, of course, this being a proper tiny flagship. Elkjøp lists three versions, 8/128GB, 8/256GB and 16/256GB storage, and four colorways.

For connectivity, the phone will have 5G (bands: 41, 77, 78, 79), Wi-Fi 6E (ax), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and GNSS (GPS L1+L5, GLONASS L1, Galileo E1+E5a, BDS and QZSS). The wired connectivity will include a USB-C 3.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
That USB-C port will also charge the 4,300mAh battery (300mAh more than last year’s model). According to the retailer, there will be a 30W USB-C charger in the retail package. The fingerprint reader will go on the side (replacing the under display reader of the old model).

Also, the listing includes the date of the last guaranteed OS update – August 2024 (about two years from now). The last guaranteed security patch is listed as “44797”, though we’re not entirely clear what that means.
Based on Elkjøp’s pricing, the base Asus Zenfone 9 (8/128GB) will cost NOK 8,000 (that converts to $810/€800/₹64,500). The 8/256GB mode is 10% more, NOK 8,800, the fully-loaded 16/256GB option is NOK 9,500.

They apparently chose this SoC for the efficiency, thermal throttling is clearly visible on review videos, but the trade off for longer battery life was clearly the decision here.

Not really sure you can call that a "leak". It's very impressive that nothing actually leaked at all about the Zenfone 9. ASUS clearly ran a tight ship this year. You can hardly call them accidentally uploading their own promo video a ...

Not sure if I would laugh at that joke. A friend of mine is more than ready to trade in his Samsung Galaxy S22 for this ASUS.
