August security update starts hitting Samsung Galaxy S6 edge

Himanshu, 10 August, 2016

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has started receiving Android security update for August. Weighing in at 63MB, the update - which is currently hitting units in India - bumps the firmware version to G925IDVS3EPH2.

It's worth mentioning that the update also brings along a "patch for critical security vulnerability." The changelog, however, doesn't provide any details on the vulnerability in question, including whether or not it's related to the recently-disclosed QuadRoot flaw.

Anyway, the update also includes some performance-related improvements and other enhancements and optimizations. It isn't yet known if the Galaxy S6 is also getting a similar update.

Secure enough not to allow your useless information to get hacked or stolen. Unless you work in enterprise or government agency it shouldn't matter to you that much, unless you're the super paranoid tinfoil hat wearing type.

Secure enough for what? Android is the least secure OS out there. Not even Knox makes it at least as secure as Windows or iOS.
