I also have one and haven't had any problems by now.
I realy don't know what you are speaking about O.o
I like the design and the feeling of cold metal and the featureset is ok too (Mp3 player is all i need ;-)

Hallo Tay,
I can understand that you are disapointed in Siemens phones.But not all siemens phones have software problems or greeze.
I got mine EL 71 opal-black and so far no problems at all. Everything is working fine.You should contact Benq-Siemens and explain the problems, maybe they send you another EL71 or at least solve your problem. I wish you all the best. Mybe a software update will help.

was so happy when i got this phone.....now i remember why i dont buy siemens. it always shuts down, lags, freezes etc. im bidding on one on ebay. please god dont let me win!!!! siemens u r still rubbish, your products r inferior and u r cheapskates. do not buy benq-siemens

If some people doesnt like Siemens phones, why buy one.
I orderd Benq-Siemens EL71 9 juni and I will get it today. Its OPAL-BLACK.
I hope no software problems. The best phone will be SL91 slider, will come in December.

this phone is so unreliable its absolutely unbelievable that someone can make a phone like this the battery doesn last two seconds. the stats on the handset are good but when it comes down to it there rubbish benq would need to step up a little bit in the marketif they even think of competin wit people like nokia and samsung. i suppose that we cant really expect much much more from seimens or benq. oh well i suppose the joey who designed this phone tryed now he should go home and consider his career prospects.

just upgraded to v17 and now have problems my phone shuts down on its own, I never had this with v12, install at your own risk!!!! lol

nice looking phone but seems to be lagging loads??? annoying slow as i had a d500 before. will this change after time or is it always like this?

For improved battery; set the screensaver to energysaving mode. Adjust timing to 1 minute. Acitvate auto key lock. then you will have 50% more battery.

eya evry1 ive bin lookin on the internet at this and in the orange catalouge and im trying to check wheather or not it has fm radio as it says it does i the catalouge but not on the web can any1 help me??

hey..if u set illumination to 10%(not at 100%) thn u can expand the charging life of the phone..ive just explored tht...
but still searching for the call duration display while on call...:(

hey guys
its a nice smart looking phone..the disadv tht i found in this fone is tht its battery life is very low..ive to charge it almost daily
ive a query..while talking on fone i cant see how long is my call going..i.e. ivent activated the CALL DURATION option..i cudnt find it...can anybdy temme frm where to activate the CALL DURATION option..
ill really appreciate ur cooperation..

Hi,
I have just bought the EL71 from Carphone Warehouse as the EF81 still not available!
I have a few questions and wondered if anyone can help?!
First how can you or can you sync the EL71 via bluetooth with the phone manager/ how do you generally search for other bluetooth devices???
I have the Software version 12 Variant A145 (production date 4th July 2006), I wanted to see which was the upto date software version and download it from Benq Siemens website but I found the instructions not very clear!
At the end when you put the hab=ndset type in it asks you to put the correct variant in! is that the variant I already have and if no which variant because there are many listed, it does not tell you which one you need for your specific handset and I don't want to download something and destroy my new mobile if you know what I mean!

For all who want to remove the operator logo, please use the following link.

and down load the transparent file through your wap connection, and set your operator logo to this file. It works and it is great.
Sorry I dont know how to do it without WAP.

For those of you with out the usb cable, buy a cheap bluetooth dongle/adaptor from ebay etc and then turn bluetooth on the phone.
then just send the mp3s/ photos etc that way
very quick and simple to do

I' am from Croatia. BenQ-Siemens EL71 has been offered in the T-mobile. The package doesn't include headset, USB cable an SD card. It's nice, isn't it. Mobile phone costs 1500,00HRK= 200,00 €.
