Forgot to mention, the lag is between 0.5 to 1 sec in most cases. So just imagine pausing for about a sec when moving from one interface to another Enlarging photos in preview mode= 2 to 4 sec.

HI Jonathan,
If you are considering using this phone to listen to mp3 songs through the loudspeaker and to take photos, I would say it's a safe bet as I am using it. Let me give you some examples of how the phone can 'annoy' you due to it's slow response. Personally I have got used to it as it does what a phone should do (receive and answer call) pretty well.
There is a short lag in whatever command you use on the phone. Say from the main menu (9 icons) you want go into media player or profile or calender the response is not 'instantaneous' like those from Nokia. The sms lags too, the longer you type your message , the more obvious it becomes. The phone can't seem to keep up with you when you select words from the dictionary or key in alphabets. And it will cause you to write wrong words even if you key in the correct one as the phone can't 'register' from it's lag. But it doesn't happen all the time. When reviewing the photo you've taken, selecting photo and enlarging is really slow. Sometimes when you execute from one command to another it just lags considerably.
One thing you must know, when you write sms or take photo you can't play ur mp3. Basically don't imagine it to be a pc whereby you can play background music and leisurely scroll/edit your pictures or read/write sms. Someone said it's possible if you use sms chat.
Sounds bad? It really is to some, sometimes I just hate S88 when i am trying to do many things at one on the S88, like editing pictures, viewing calender, changing profiles, searchng names etc. but when i hear the sound and see the pictures from the phone I told myself I have not made the wrong choice cos nice sound and decent camera is what I have been looking for.

ummmm, yeah, i was reading some comments saying that. But i am not a havy user, i mean, how annoying can d slowness factor be? I mean, can u plz tell me how long d lag usually is? i really like dis fones design, and i want to use it both as a camera and as an MP3 player, n from wat i read, it does those things pretty well. I do worry bout d fact its slow, but i hardly find myself in situations when d speen really matters.

Hi ppl! I really like this fone and i want to buy it. But there are two factors that are really important to me... Does the box package include a handsfree headset (2 listen 2 music) and a USB data cable? Plz answer as soon as possible! Thnx so much ppl!!!!!

Hello Q answer and arrmy, I took a 1 min video of my company D&D function and I managed to play the full video (a 3GP file) on Apple quicktime. No signs of premature stopping at 15 sec or whatsoever. But due to slow frame rate and poor sound quality the video, in my opinion is only useful if you don't have other means of recording video other than using the phone. I've seen nokia 6233 video on Youtube much better I would say. Maybe you can try using quicktime to play video?

Hi arrmy, I'm glad you like the phone. No though the navigation is slow I don't regret getting it. In fact it's been 2 months and I still like it cos i can get decent pictures from it's camera and it acts like a mini mp3 player with it's clear sound. I'm curious about the special media player too. Have not tried viewing movies on pc. I think a digicam does a better job.

about the video playback on PC, yeah that sucks but there is a solution...you have to download the media player classic in order to play the whole video...

yeah i just bought the phone 2 daes ago n i love it. MP3 IS MARVELLOUS . it is loud n clear. Navigation rather slow though .
I have to question: my computer plays my video taken from my fone for 2 secs only, although the video is 30 secs long. whats happening?

Hi arrmy, i don't know if the stiff joystick represents durabilty, but at least your fingers don't really hurt when you use it. I understand that you may get the phone soon. Have you seriously asked yourself are you able to tolerate the slow response during menu navigation? Especially if you're used to the speed that Nokia and many others offer? Because I'm afraid it may be too late when you realised this fact only when you start using the S88, and you may regret it.

arrmy....yes that's true the joystick is in fact a little stiff but not that stiff that u can't use comfortably, in fact i think that represents durability of the joystick unlike other brands that have too soft joysticks and that stop working after a while.... ;-)
