Omar, 31 May 2010What is the difference between the bold 9000 & 9700 ?i guess the difference is mainly in the camera MP, screen display, and the 9000 has a trackball whereas the 9700 comes with a touchpad. There are other obvious differences in size and weight. For detailed differences you can use the "Compare" feature on this website, and put both the models spec sheet side by side. It's rather convenient and easy to spot the differences then!!

I have had allot due to my profession, I have to carry 3 phones on me and 2 pagers everyday. This Blackberry 9000 is the best I've had. I feel could no longer live a peaceful life until the 9000 came out. Now I want it buried with me so I can see what the reception is like................lol..........

Anonymous, 27 May 2010is b blakberry b2 better than b1 ?well, it has more onboard memory so u can install more applications and store more content, plus it has a better camera, and a TRACKPAD, so the navigation through menus and screen is alot better. however the Bold 2 is smaller than the Bold 1, so if u have big hands then u may very well have typing issues on BOLD 2

Okay, so after owning a BlackBerry Bold 9000 on AT&T for a year, and about to retire it, I feel it's time to write a review for others considering owning this smartphone.
I bought this phone new, on early upgrade from a BlackBerry Pearl 8100, and after returning an 8GB iPhone 3G for refund.
Cons:
-Right off the bat, the battery creaked annoyingly when typing on the keyboard. Wal-Mart Connection Center replaced the battery door with one from another 9000 they had in stock. I understand not everyone will have this same issue with it.
-The camera/camcorder is very poor (2.0 MP), except when taking pictures outdoors when the sun is shining. This is non-debatable.
-It also has very low memory for application storage because the OS takes up most of the memory. Again, non-debatable. The OS I am using (4.6.0.304) leaves 58020384 bytes free of an original 128 MB (after having the following apps installed: custom theme, MemoryBooster, Opera Mini 4.2, and QuickPull 1.2.0). If it falls below a certain MB of free memory the device begins deleting messages, calendar entries, etc to free up memory for operating.
-I don't use the 1MB of onboard memory for media storage because I have an 8GB microSD card in use. I understand not everyone will have a memory card in use, but if so this is largely useless and should've been put toward the RAM (every little bit counts).
-I've had this phone for about a year and it is clearly not meant for "hardy" users (i.e. being dropped, toddler handling, prolonged use during the day). The battery life has gradually deteriorated over time (I've even had to replace the battery during this time), and it randomly crashes during use and phone calls. Sometimes it doesn't even ring during incoming calls - calls go right to vm randomly. Again, I'm a hardy user so I understand this won't be the case for everyone.
-I have the Facebook app installed and don't receive the notifications. This may be due to the area I live and/or how iPhone users slam the AT&T data network.
-The trackball needs to be cleaned regularly or it sticks/stalls in response.
-AT&T doesn't roll out OS updates! This is none-debatable as well.
Pros:
-I like the high-resolution display (65K colors, 480 x 320 pixels, 2.6 inches).
-The "surround sound" audio, instead of a monotonous sound when using the media player.
-I like the full-QWERTY keyboard size; not pressing multiple keys when trying to type, unlike the Curve series (this will vary, of course, by hand/finger size).
-BlackBerry Messenger is a plus because my husband has a BlackBerry as well.
-Has camera/camcorder capabilities (the 8100 was only camera capable).
-App capable, despite not much memory for apps. Memopad, calendar, address book, web browser (although Opera Mini, or another secondary browser is needed to view full sites without making the phone stall to load on the regular browser), media player, GPS, are all handy features I use daily.
Overall:
- It's a love/hate relationship for me, so when it comes down to it I honestly feel neutral toward this device.
-Was a good investment going with an early upgrade. If I had paid full-price, it would've been a poor investment, because I haven't even owned it a full year and I am already needing to replace it due to it randomly crashing and incoming calls going straight to voicemail (isn't the point of having a phone being able to talk on it?).
-I would not recommend paying full price for this phone unless you're going to rarely use it because it just can't handle being in active operation for long periods of time and being physically abused (dropped, my toddler has chewed/drooled on it).
I hope this review comes in handy for people considering the BlackBerry Bold 9000 as their next device.
