If you unlock the 9700, will it ruin or slow the phone down? any software issues or such?

I think INQ's way more cooler than blackberry, LOL!!!
and the functions are so similar, why not get a less costly and sweeter mobile?? :-)

Omar, 31 May 2010What is the difference between the bold 9700 & 9000 ?Bold 9000-bigger, trackball, better build quality, better keyboard.

Bold 9700-smaller, trackpad, poor build quality (loose parts), annoying squeaks here and there.

I pick Bold 9000 any day the only downside is the trackball.

Anonymous, 30 May 2010Hey guys, im going to get the white one but im afraid it mi... moreDon't think so, unless you leave it out in strong sunlight as a regular thing which will damage and discolour any plastic .

And for me, the white one is absolutely Beautiful, so I wouldn't hesitate!

Ok had this for a couple of weeks now and absolutely loving it. The user experience is superb, navigating through menus is pretty fast and of course emails and other text based messaging is first class.

Keypad a squeeze but with its special design you can quickly get the hang of using your thumb tips, and its quite forgiving so you'll start speeding up and merrily mashing keys without mistyping before you know it.

For what is effectively a business machine I think they've managed to expand the appeal into social use very well, with good integration for windows live messenger, facebook, and BB messenger, as well as of course all your email accounts, which are the things I use it mostly for (not pleased that it doesn't have skype integration, though I'm on the 3 network). BB messenger deserves special praise as its like windows live messenger but for all your friends worldwide with blackberries, in a conversation can send pics or file or voice note of course, but also (gimmick this but love it) send location - the gps fires up, locates you on a map and then pings that to your mates "hey I'm at Auckland Harbour, hey I'm at Tower Bridge, hey I'm on 5th Avenue" Cute, no?

You can of course upload yr pics too direct to flickr, facebook et al; And view youtube too, by downloading the appropriate (free) app, thus getting round the "can't view youtube" problem. The same applies for radio - No radio built in no problem, there's a (free) app for that too so I can listen to all my favourite London stations (pay to upgrade to be able to listen to 4000+ stations globally).

Camera ok, clean shots but at 3.2mp it ain't going to win any prizes nowadays, so just for fun or 4x6 prints at the max; Video is sub-vga but the refresh rate seems close enough to 24fps that there's no chop, and for bright days or close-ups again decent for fun use.

Slowly personalising it fully to my needs - Have downloaded apps and personalised the menu folders, added opera mini for a better online experience, eventually will start working in some of the other many features to this phone including voice dialling etc.

Small niggles with the media player - Music folder seems to reset itself each time you stop using it, so next time you start up you're at the beginning of your songlist again; the divx videos I drag from my desktop (it's supposed to be an easy drag'ndrop operation) end up playing not full screen, and with a lot of chop, whilst putting them through blackberry desktop manager takes Ages (SO long I'd given up). It's galling as my mp3 player which is also divx compatible sucks up those same clips like candy.

Have found that just have to be a little patient with it being a smart-phone, so not as robust as a non-smartie's OS. There's the occasional bug, pause or crash if you overwhelm it (was listening to music, switched on camera, swapped to video and then hit record, resulting in the screen whiting out and the unit Slowly rebooting).

Should have guessed as much as in forums there's casual non-alarmist talk of rebooting and cache clearing and battery pulls et al, and even in the blackberry app store there's loads of apps that are supposed to substitute for battery pulls, or automatically tidy up the RAM, or whatever.

Am kicking myself for my impatience as I upgraded to this onyx (ie black) unit a couple of days before the white one became available - which makes an already handsome device look almost beautiful (imho!) - closest way I can describe the feeling you get looking at the 'whiteberry' is that its similar to the first time you saw and used the black SE K750!

9650 is newer, but as far as I know it doesn't have the processor or the RAM. Also battery is better in the 9700
